    10 Voice Actors From "Avatar" And "Legend Of Korra" That You'll Kick Yourself For Not Recognizing

    Avatar: the Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra are two of the best series in TV history. The shows are amazing for many reasons – the compelling plot, a great variety of amazing characters, the character development, the detailed world-building, and astounding animation. But did you know that the shows also star many famous voice actors?

    1. Ron Perlman as Firelord Sozin

    BBC One, Nickelodeon

    Golden Globe winner, Ron Perlman, isn’t a stranger when it comes to voice acting. The actor – probably best known for his portrayal of Hellboy – lent his voice to many animated productions and played a small but important role in Avatar. He starred in only one episode: "The Avatar and the Firelord." In the episode, Perlman provided the voice for Firelord Sozin.

    2. Serena Williams as Ming and a sage

    You don’t have to be an actor to star in a famous animation series, at least not when your name is Serena Williams. The former #1 tennis player starred in both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. In the former, she voiced Ming, a Fire Nation soldier who guarded Iroh during his time in prison. In the latter, she gave her voice to a sage that helped Avatar Korra.

    3. George Takei as a warden

    Star Trek actor and LGBTQ-activist, George Takei, played a small role in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Takei can be heard in the first season during the episode “Imprisoned” where he voiced a ruthless prison warden.

    4. Rami Malek as Tahno

    USA, Nickelodeon

    The Legend of Korra starred two Oscar-winners and one of them is Rami Malek. Malek – who won an Academy Award for his stellar performance in Bohemian Rhapsody – voiced the part of Tahno, a waterbender and captain of the pro-bending team called the White Falls Wolfbats.

    5. Daniel Dae Kim as Earth Kingdom general and Hiroshi Sato

    Daniel Dae Kim is another actor that starred both in Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. In Avatar, Kim voiced an Earth Kingdom general. The Lost actor’s part in The Legend of Korra was bigger; he voiced Hiroshi Sato, the father of Asami Sato and the CEO of Future Industries. The brilliant inventor started out as an antagonist part but got a redemption arc later in the series.

    6. Kiernan Shipka as Jinora

    The leading actress of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina also starred in The Legend of Korra. She provided the voice of Jinora, the granddaughter of Aang and Katara, and daughter of Tenzin.

    7. Lisa Edelstein as Kya

    Lisa Edelstein – probably better known as Dr. Lisa Cuddy from the series, House – can be heard in The Legend of Korra. Edelstein portrayed the role of Kya, the only daughter of Aang and Katara.

    8. Jason Isaacs as Admiral Zhao

    Warner Bros., Nickelodeon

    Isaacs played a villain in the Harry Potter franchise, and he voiced a villain in Avatar: The Last Airbender, too. Jason Isaacs was responsible for the voice of Admiral Zhao, the antagonist of the first Book. His character hunted both the Avatar and Prince Zuko. He also led the biggest siege on the Northern Water Tribe and slaughtered the Moon Spirit. Busy man.

    9. J.K. Simmons as Tenzin

    Nickelodeon, Sony/Marvel

    The other Oscar-winner from this list is J.K. Simmons. Simmons – who won an Academy Award for his part in Whiplash – provided the voice of Tenzin, the youngest son of Aang and Katara. In The Legend of Korra, Tenzin is responsible for keeping the airbending traditions alive while simultaneously teaching Korra.

    10. And finally, Mark Hamill as Firelord Ozai

    Disney, Nickelodeon

    We saved the best for last, and that's Mark Hamill. Hamill, who everyone knows as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, voiced the part of Firelord Ozai. With his part as Ozai, Hamill showed that he's not only able to portray a convincing good guy but also easily can turn to the dark side. And boy, he did one hell of a job!
