Produced by Jim Albritton | Hundreds celebrated National Train Day in McComb, Mississippi at the city's award-winning railroad museum. They toured passenger, sleeper and dining cars on Amtrak's "City of New Orleans" train and the historic postal and office railcars just added to the Steam Engine 2542 display next to the city's depot. CN (Canadian National Railway) provided rides aboard "Little Obie," their safety train for kids, and under the bridge "hobos" answered questions about life on the rails while live music and the smell of food filled the air all along Railroad Boulevard.

McComb, Mississippi was founded in 1872 after Col. Henry S. McComb of the New Orleans, Jackson and Great Northern Railroad, a predecessor of the Illinois Central Railroad (now part of the Canadian National Railway), decided to move the railroad's maintenance shops away from New Orleans and the negative influence of the city's saloons.

They're asked to keep one and pass the other 11 on to friends, family or total strangers.

Today, 20 years later, on the 12th anniversary of 9/11, Good Neighbor Day is as big as ever and has evolved into a way to support Batson Children's Hospital. Various items are raffled and donations are accepted on behalf of the Mississippi's only children's hospital.
