"She's Brought That Color Back": Zayn Malik Made Rare Comments About His Daughter With Gigi Hadid

"I feel like we were so overexposed in the band. That's why I took the time I have to not even necessarily do interviews."

A rare interview with Zayn Malik will be airing tomorrow in an upcoming episode of Call Her Daddy.

Zayn has largely kept out of the public eye in recent years. His last album, Nobody Is Listening, was released in 2021 and rumors swirled that he was dropped by RCA Records later that year. Fast-forward to last month, and it was announced that Zayn has signed to Mercury Records and will be releasing new music on July 21.

However, the past few years have been eventful in Zayn's private life. He welcomed his first child with Gigi Hadid back in 2020, but the couple reportedly broke up a year later, following an alleged incident with Yolanda Hadid.

Speaking on his general reluctance to be interviewed, Zayn said in the Call Her Daddy trailer, "I feel like we were so overexposed in the band. That's why I took the time I have to not even necessarily do interviews."

Six years isn't quite accurate — he did a handful of interviews in 2021. That being said, Zayn might be referring to the type of interview.

"They just said, 'Oh yeah, you can be the mysterious one.' It wasn't necessarily even my personality, I'm just chill. I know a lot of people have high-energy personalities and it's just not the way I am."

Zayn then turned his attention to his daughter, Khai, saying, "Since I've had my daughter, the main thing in my mind is trying to be a good example to her. That's why I'm even doing this interview. I used to get a lot of anxiety around having a conversation like this and I want her to be able to look at me and go, 'Yo, my dad's doing this.'"

"I keep being told I'm doing dad jokes, I'm leaning into it," he continued. "I feel like we get to a certain point in adult life where everything is kind of vague and gray and boring, and she's brought that color back."

Zayn added that he hopes the interview helps people get to know him, so I guess we'll have to see tomorrow.
