Angela Bassett Made Sure Ariana DeBose Was Okay After Her Extremely Viral Performance, And It Was Really Sweet

Angela Bassett is the moment.

It happened! Angela Bassett officially confirmed that she did, in fact, do "the thing" we can't stop talking about.

Last night, the biggest stars in Hollywood gathered for the 54th NAACP Image Awards. All eyes were on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star, who was nominated for multiple awards, including Outstanding Supporting Actress and Entertainer of the Year.

But the moment that stole my heart happened on the red carpet when Variety asked Angela if she had spoken to Ariana DeBose after her extremely viral BAFTA Awards performance.

In case you missed it, Ariana performed an opening number including "Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves" and "We Are Family." But, her original rap which included the awards show's female nominees, quickly became an internet hit. 

Angela had the sweetest response. "I DM'ed her last night. I did. It was beautiful," she said. "I just wanted to make sure she was okay because, you know, it's a lot of attention. And she's A-OK."

And the night just kept getting better for the 64-year-old actor who won major, taking home three awards, including the biggest award of the evening, Entertainer of the Year.

As the show closed, Ariana's viral sensation came full circle, and Angela showed us why she is the moment. "Yeah! I guess Angela Bassett did the thing!" she shouted, confirming what we knew all along.
