People Are Sharing Tips On Which Purchases Are Actually Worth The Money, And I'm Writing These Down

"Quality bed sheets. It is definitely worth it! The first time I crawled into bed with new high-end sheets, I sighed. Actually stripped right down and just relished in how they felt."

Recently, Reddit user u/KaiJonez posed the question, "What is 100% worth the money?"

And there were so many great responses! Here are some of the top-voted answers:

    1. "A good pillow. It's a minor purchase, but your head will be lying on that for many hours. Why not splurge on such an item and get the best one you can afford?"

    2. "Books. My parents didn’t have a ton of money when I was growing up, so I didn’t get a lot of toys if I asked for them, but if I ever asked for books, they always got them for me. My mom always says that it was worth it for me to have and love books and be a strong reader. Books are always, ALWAYS worth the money."

    3. "Condoms."

"I would give you 10,000 upvotes if I could. Cost of a condom: $1. Cost of not wearing a condom: $200k+."

    4. "Bidet. I cut down my toilet paper use by 80%, and my butt has never felt cleaner."

    u/mrjohn90

"I bought a bidet in November 2019, one of those Toto Washlet ones with the heater, remote, dryer, everything. It takes literally one use to get used to, and I will never look back. When the Great Toilet Paper Crush of 2020 was happening, I sat happy, knowing I'd always have a squeaky-clean butt, never having to use much toilet paper at all. If you're gonna get one, get a nice one that heats the water (and preferably the seat)."

    5. "Spotify premium. Wouldn't know what to do without it."

    u/goldfish_embezzler

"It is very nice. Not many subscriptions deliver as much as Spotify does. All the music. All the knowledge. Why do I still complain about things?"

    6. "A decent mattress. I had hand-me-down mattresses or whatever I could afford for super cheap my whole life. A few years ago, I finally used my savings and tax refund to get myself a decent mattress. I can't even put into words how much this one decision has changed my life. Being more rested just changes so much about how you face the day."

    8. "Home inspections."

    u/snicemike

"Yep. I had a great inspector who found major non-disclosed structural issues with a house I put a deposit on. Walked away with all my money returned."

    u/huiscloslaqueue

"I've been looking for a house for the last two years. The number of people willing to waive an inspection because of low rates — at the time — is amazing. I just can't put that much money on the line without having someone knowledgeable take more than a 15-minute walk-through look at the house."

"We have them at home, and I love them. The only downside is going somewhere and forgetting they don't all do that...bam!!!"

    10. "My kitty cat and puppy dog! I love them both so much."

    u/ZoopZoop4321

"This. I paid $200 for a pair of ginger cats to cope with the grief of losing my dad, and it genuinely has been an ointment to my soul to have these two fur babies roaming around my house. Knowing what I know now, I would have paid tenfold if I had to. You can't put a price on an animal's unconditional affection."

    12. "TSA PreCheck and CLEAR. I'm through security in three minutes when the regular line says 90 minutes."

    13. "Quality shoes! A good pair can last years and save you money in the long run."

    14. "A good-quality chef's knife will make you actually want to cook things from scratch. I bought a VG10 Damascus steel chef's knife for ~$45, shipped about 6 years ago (look for the Grand Sharp brand), and the blade has held up wonderfully. I hone it quite frequently and have only had to sharpen it once. Arguably, it's just as good as any of the high-end knives you buy here in the US for $200 a pop."

"Pair it up with a decent-quality cutting board. I prefer the softer wood ones over bamboo, as bamboo is pretty harsh on your knives."

    17. And finally, "Therapy. Some people have wonderful parents and/or people who guide them around in life, but most of us don't. Most of us are never told how to deal with depression or anxiety, how to fight for our rights or our dreams, or even how to know what's right and what's wrong. Therapy shows you all these tools that we're never told, tools that enable you to fix your life and feel like you're the one taking control over it."

"I've been in it for three years now. I'm still pretty messed up, but I'm such a different (and I'd even say better?) person now!"
