Diner owner Darla Neugebauer is being both cheered and jeered online for reprimanding a crying child in her restaurant.

If you haven't been on social media in the last few hours, here's the skinny: Darla Neugebauer, Maine diner owner, screamed at (and went on a subsequent viral Facebook rant about) a child who had been crying nonstop inside the restaurant she runs.

Marcy's Diner under fire after owner yelled at a screaming child. Hear from the diner's owner @ 5 p.m.

Tara Carson, the mother of the crying child, took to Marcy's Diner's Facebook page to share her displeasure, and Neugebauer responded in kind.

Here is the original post by the mom and the response in the Marcy's diner controversy:

You can read the full exchange HERE. Carson insists her child was traumatized and the owner should have approached the adults in the party first. Neugebauer maintains that the Carsons ordered too many pancakes and should have taken their inconsolable child outside after 30 minutes of consecutive screaming.

  1. So, parents: Did the diner owner have a right to scream at someone else's child?

Hell yes. It's her establishment and crying is annoying.
No, but she could have quietly asked the family to leave.
No, she acted like a lunatic. Babies cry and diners order pancakes.
