Melanie Lynskey And Jason Ritter Just Found Another Way To Get Even Cuter, And It Involves Multiple Marriage Proposals

    "Will you marry me...again?"

Marriage proposals typically happen once, twice, maybe three times in a person's lifetime, but for Melanie Lynskey, she gets to experience them "all the time."

During a recent interview for Shut Up Evan: The Newsletter, Melanie's husband and fellow actor, Jason Ritter, called in to ask her a question about her career, but he followed it up with really "cute" request.

"Will you marry me, again," Jason asked Melanie. "Please get back to me as quickly as possible. Thank you. Bye!"

The Candy star went on to reveal that this is an "inside joke" that the two of them share, "because the first time he proposed it wasn't great, so he re-proposes all the time to make up for it, which is really cute."

Melanie and Jason met back in 2013, became engaged in 2017, and welcomed their daughter in 2018. They tied the knot in 2020, and the pandemic played a big part in that.

Melanie was preparing to film Yellowjackets in Canada, but due to COVID restrictions at the time, Jason wouldn't have been able to visit her unless they were married.

"I was going to Canada for Yellowjackets," Melanie said during an interview with SiriusXM's Jess Cagle. "And I was on the phone with somebody, and they said, 'Oh, he won't be allowed in.' And I was like, 'We have a child. What? I can't leave for six months.' So, I was like, 'We have to get married tomorrow.'"

They got married on the porch of their Atlanta rental home, with friends Ali Ahn and William Jackson Harper as their witnesses.

"They brought a cake and flowers and everything we needed," Melanie added. "It was actually a very fun wedding day, but it didn't need to happen. He could totally have gotten into Canada."

Melanie and Jason have proven that they won't let anything stand in the way of them being together, even if that means working on the same project.

They've shared the screen in multiples TV shows like Yellowjackets, Candy, The Last of UsThe Big Ask, The Intervention, and more.
