Even after the breakup, there are some relationships that leave a lasting impression on you, and that's exactly what it was like for Jim Carrey and Renée Zellweger.
Jim and Renée began dating after meeting on the set of their 2000 comedy Me, Myself, & Irene, and were briefly engaged from 1999 to Dec. 2000.
Despite their short-lived romance, the 58-year-old actor and comedian still described Renée as the "great love of his life" in his new satirical, semi-autobiographical novel Memoirs and Misinformation.
And during a recent interview with Howard Stern, Jim was asked if that statement was true, despite the book being categorized as fiction.
"Well, she definitely was special to me," Jim told Howard. "Very special. I think she's lovely."
Howard then wondered if Jim felt like Renée was "the one that got away," in a sense.
"I don't regret. I don't have those things, but I do appreciate the people that have come through my life for the good that they gave me."
Jim went on to say, "But I don't pine for anybody. It's not that kind of situation. It's just my way of saying there was a very important thing there and to recognize that."
It's always sweet to hear people reflect on the people who impacted their life, even if their friendships or relationships didn't last.
