First came love. Then came marriage. Then came Da Brat with a baby carriage! That's right, Da Brat is pregnant!

The veteran rapper is expecting her first child with her wife, Kaleidoscope Hair Products CEO Jesseca "Judy" Harris-Dupart. Da Brat made the announcement earlier today on Instagram.

"Blessings all 2023," wrote Da Brat in her Instagram caption, along with tagging Hope Fertility, the Black-owned boutique fertility center that helped the couple with their pregnancy journey.
The 48-year-old artist opened up about her journey in a recent interview with People. Da Brat revealed she didn't think pregnancy was "in the cards" for her. "I've had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn't get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn't going to happen for me."

But discussions about motherhood began to creep into her mind around the time she married Jesseca (Feb. 22, 2022). "It started as a joke, we were like, 'We're extending our family!'" Da Brat said. "But then we got a huge response. It was like, 'Oh my God do we want to actually have kids, and if we do, girl, we better hurry up!'"
"I started looking at life so differently," Da Brat said. "I was like, 'I want a little me with you.' Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally."

Da Brat was initially against the idea of carrying the baby herself, but Jesseca eventually convinced her otherwise. Because of her "nurturing" nature, Jesseca thought her wife should get to have that experience.

Unfortunately, this journey hasn't been easy. Jesseca suffered major health complications during the egg retrieval procedure, while Da Brat underwent fibroid and polyps removal surgery. Then came a devastating miscarriage.
"I had never been so excited about something that I didn't even know I wanted," Da Brat said. "I fell in love with the idea and then it was all snatched away from me."

Da Brat revealed they still had "quite a few" eggs left, so they tried again using an anonymous sperm donor. Da Brat is now 18 weeks pregnant.

"It's just a blessing," Da Brat said. "I'm excited!"

We couldn't be happier for the couple!
