It seems the more Chloe Bailey continues to build a name for herself outside of the sister duo Chloe x Halle she was introduced to the world in, the more her choices are critiqued online.
But it's not the singer's voice that receives the most criticism — instead, it's her body and what she does with it that have some people in a continuous uproar. And during a recent interview with ET Canada, Chloe revealed it's those negative comments that led her to ultimately delete her Twitter.
"I did," Chloe confirmed to ET Canada about recently deleting her Twitter. "Yeah. When you see me 'tweeting,' it's because I'll say [to my team], 'Oh, tweet this for me.' Or I'll be like, 'Send me any viral tweets or anything you think I should respond to or you know I'd want to. Send it my way because you know I won't see it.'"
The 24-year-old artist is growing up in the public eye, which means her self-exploration, whether it be trying new hairstyles or navigating various music genres, is all up for public debate. And since her body has been dissected since the day she became famous, the scrutiny is at an all-time high.
"I love all social media and I love Twitter as well, but that's where you can see all the negative things about you directly in your face."
The negative comments about Chloe continued to pour in after the release of Swarm, where she filmed her first onscreen sex scene. The scene immediately went viral and caused a lot of discussions on Twitter.

"If I see my name trending, I'd click it and see a whole plethora of negative tweets about myself. I don't need to do that to myself."
"I feel that when you continue to be fed the same thing, you'll start to believe it. And I started changing myself based off what I thought people's opinions were of me. And that's not okay."
Comparisons have also played a major role in Chloe's love-hate relationship with Twitter. Outside of looks, Chloe and Halle's career paths are often compared, with some deeming Halle's route more "wholesome." It's unfair and unnecessary.
"I just let it go," Chloe said. "So, I'm still actively, all the time, on Instagram. And Discord. I still love communicating with the fans, so I talk to them a lot in our chats on Discord. That's the little nerd in me. I love Discord. I like Discord a lot."
Chloe recently reactivated her Twitter to conduct a fan Q&A, but I wouldn't be surprised if she hands the account back over to her team by tomorrow.
This wouldn't be the first time a celebrity quit Twitter because of internet trolls. People often create a perception of a celebrity in their head and then get upset when they don't live up to it.
What we all need to remember is that these celebrities are real people, and even though they signed up to be in the spotlight, they didn't sign up for the unwarranted hate.
