Today is a big day for gay divorces — like, I'm genuinely caught off guard by both of these, and it's somewhat of a "gay earthquake" in the gay relationship world.
Billy Porter and Adam Smith have been married for six years.
They're always arm in arm on red carpets.
They attended Billy's Walk of Fame ceremony together.
I feel like I always see cute pics of them!
And now People magazine is reporting that they are breaking up.
Billy's rep told People, "I can confirm that Billy Porter and his husband, Adam Smith, have made the sad decision to end their marriage after six years."
He added, "The decision was an amicable and mutual one and was made after much consideration. They continue to love and support each other as they embark on this next chapter."
I thought that was a big deal, and then Ricky Martin announced his own divorce.
These are two major gay divorces in one day.
Ricky has been married to Jwan Yosef for six years.
They've also been pretty public about their relationship over this time period.
The two are all over each other's Instagram.
And they're always looking ridiculously handsome on red carpets together.
In a joint statement to People, Ricky and Jwan said, "We have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all these wonderful years."
They added, "Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on peace and friendship to continue the joint upbringing of our children, preserving the respect and love we have for each other."
Oof, I'm not gonna lie, these two divorces came out of nowhere for me.
