Her viral rise to fame started JUST before the pandemic in February 2020 when a comedian named Kevin Freshwater approached an unassuming woman on the subway to finish the lyrics to Lady Gaga's "Shallow."
On February 18, 2020 that video blew up.
Her name is Charlotte Awbery, and she gained hundreds of thousands of fans.
She was the new queen of gays.
An inspiration to us all.
We were are all part of Charlotte's Web*.
It was a bit of light before the darkness*.
What a time to be alive!
Naturally, Charlotte made her debut on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
She performed a gorgeous rendition of "Shallow."
In the interview, Charlotte said the video wasn't staged. She was actually on the subway going to meet a friend.
Then Ellen gave Charlotte a ticket for one free year on the London tube and £10,000.
Charlotte went on to release an official "Shallow" music video.
But then, like the Pussycat Dolls ill-fated comeback, miss Charlotte kind of disappeared.
I blame the pandemic.
But now I'm here to tell you what Charlotte has been up to.
She's been busy!
In September 2021, Charlotte released her first original single "One & Only."
She's also been regularly posting covers on her Instagram.
I particularly like this "I Put A Spell On You" one.
She's been slaying the fashion game.
No big deal, just queen shit.
Last year, she met Emma Thompson.
And she also submitted a song for Eurovision.
In February 2023, Charlotte appeared to be back in the studio.
And last week, on International Women's Day, she sang a rendition of "Diamonds" for all the ladies out there.
It seems like another dimension when this video went viral, but it appears she's doing well.
I just really think she deserves another viral moment!!!
