13 Reasons You Should See Movies By Yourself More Often

Talk about a great way to spend a lazy Saturday morning!

1. You can see whatever you want.

And no one even has to know about it.

2. You can sit wherever you want.

Deciding where to sit with a group can be a pain. There's always someone who wants the back row, and another who's passionate about being as close to the middle as possible for "the most optimal surround sound effect."

If you're finicky about where you sit, being able to plant your ass wherever you want without any debate makes for a great way to start off the experience.

3. You’ll almost never have trouble finding a seat.

Even during opening weekends of popular movies, there are usually random solo seats between groups that stay open long after the previews start rolling.

5. Not talking to anyone before the movie starts means you do some serious people watching and eavesdropping.

Who doesn’t enjoy occasionally listening into the gossip of strangers? Call it a pre-movie social experiment.

6. You never have to worry about being a blubbering mess.

If you cry a lot during movies, or laugh hella hard, then going by yourself means you can let loose with your emotions. There's something truly freeing about being surrounded by strangers that you'll probably never see again.

7. You don’t have to do the whole, “Hey, I have to go to the bathroom, be right back,” explanation thing.

It's so much easier just getting up and going without having to do the socially required whisper that you have to pee.

9. You won’t have to share your popcorn with anyone.

Meaning you can totally go with whatever popcorn seasoning you want.

10. If you aren’t feeling the movie, you can bail without worrying about disappointing anyone.

Plus, if you can tell that you aren't into it within the first 15 minutes or so you might be able to get the manager to let you into a different movie. There's no guarantee, but it never hurts to ask!

11. There are ALWAYS other solo moviegoers.

You should never be concerned with what other people in the theater are going to think about you, because odds are you won't be the only person in the theater sitting alone.

12. Worried you'll feel lonely? DON'T! You'll be surrounded by characters that you can invest in emotionally.

Movie theaters aren't a place to talk and catch up with a friend anyways. It's a time relax, and to get into the film you're watching.

13. If the thought of going to the movies alone makes you anxious, then powering through it and realizing how awesome it is can make you feel super empowered.
