Everyone Should Be Going Mad That The Matildas Made It Through The Group Stage

Marching out of the "Group of Death".

The Australian women's soccer team has shaken off the haters and qualified from the hardest group at the World Cup in Canada. Let's reiterate... the hardest group.

The Matildas, who went down against world number two, USA and beat Nigeria, tied with women's soccer powerhouses Sweden 1-1 in a tight encounter on Wednesday.

It was a classy finish from Matildas captain Lisa De Vanna early in the game which was enough to see Australia qualify from the so-called "Group of Death". They are now in the quarter finals.

And think about it.... if the men's national team qualified from such a tough group, Australia and the media would be completely freaking out.

Take for instance the last men's World Cup. The Socceroos "bravely" lost every game against the top teams and were hailed as heroes.

Then there's the goals that the Matildas are scoring. De Vanna's goal against the USA in the opening round will have any football fan GUSHING.

We salute you towering 'Tildas and march on!!!! Next opponent Brazil. Oh yeah they can do it.
