A Hungry Koala Took A Bite Out Of An Adelaide Woman's Leg

"I had to put my fingers in its mouth and prise open its jaws to get my leg out." WARNING: Graphic image of a bloody koala wound.

Koalas are cuddly, peaceful animals which spend their days eating leaves and hugging world leaders, right? BA-BOW! WRONG! Be prepared to see the chaos one koala can bring.

South Australian woman, Mary Ann told ABC Radio in Adelaide a wild koala bit into her leg and wouldn't let go while she was out walking her dogs north of Adelaide.

"I had to put my fingers in its mouth and prise open its jaws to get my leg out. I had 12 stitches and ... I was on IV antibiotics for four days," she told 891 ABC Radio.

Ms Ann said she was distracted while texting her daughter, which she said caused the incident.

"I don't blame the koala at all; they are wild animals and shouldn't be approached."

Moral to this story is that koalas are gorgeous creatures in captivity but in the wild are terrifying, murderous "bears". Take note.
