1. New South Wales Liberal MPs Tim Owen (pictured) and Andrew Cornwall resigned Tuesday afternoon after being caught up in the Liberal Party donation scandal being investigated by the Independent Commission Against Corruption.
Mr Owen admitted that he lied to the corruption watchdog, and that he did not return a $10,000 donation from a property developer.
In the case of Mr Cornwell, the Newcastle MP admitted to the ICAC that he took a similar $10,000 donation and used it to pay his personal tax bill.
The current corruption probe into Liberal Party donations has seen several New South Wales MPs step down from positions, including the former NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell.
4. Maybe Mr Abbott needs to be reminded…
There’s expected to be fresh by-elections for the two Hunter seats vacated by today’s resignations.
