If you've been following Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson's relationship, then you're probably aware that they are as low-key as it gets. It's not often that they put attention on their joint dating life, but the supermodel made a rare exception in a recent interview.
For the first time since Cara publicly acknowledged her relationship with Ashley at this past TrevorLIVE Gala in New York, she opened up about it, telling Elle UK, that the reason she doesn't talk more about her and Ashley's romance is "because it's sacred."
Cara also talked about how weird it is to have your relationship unfold in front of the public, telling Elle UK, "I get why people care so much, and I don't want to be so secretive that people think I'm ashamed of anything. But I've never been in a relationship where things are so public, or where I posted pictures of someone else. This seemed different."
Right now, Cara is finally comfortable sharing this side of her private life with the public. "We had gotten to the point where we had kept it a secret, or at least not wanted attention, and now I feel like I'm not going to not be proud," she added, "Which isn't the same thing as wanting to pose on a red carpet together, either."
At this point, she and Ashley are so solid, the noise around her relationship doesn't bother them. "People make their own assumptions and that's what worried me," she added to Elle UK. "Because if it is something that is so good, you don't ever want anyone to ever change it, even though people shouldn't have that power."
She also had this amazing thing to say about dating Ashley: "It just feels incredible when you're not alone, when you're facing the world with someone else."
We should all be so lucky to find someone who thinks of us the way that Cara thinks of Ashley.
