Important Reminder: This Is Why It Is Called COVID-19

    Let's clear this up.

So the other day, Kellyanne Conway talked about how the World Health Organization should have been more prepared for the coronavirus because it's "not COVID-1, folks."

"This is COVID-19, not COVID-1, folks,” Kellyanne Conway says, criticizing WHO for not being “transparent.”

Yes, she literally said that. Here's video for proof:

Kellyanne Conway: "This is COVID-19, not COVID-1 folks, and so you would think the people in charge of the World Health Organization, facts and figures, would be on top of that."

So yeah, can't believe I'm actually saying this but...there is NO COVID-1, NO COVID-2, NO COVID-3, or any other COVID before 19 that is caused by the same virus.

COVID-19 literally stands for CORONAVIRUS DISEASE 2019.

The CO stands for CORONA, the VI stands for VIRUS, the D stands for DISEASE, and the 19 stands for 2019, the year it was first detected. Here, I made you a picture:

The 19 has absolutely nothing to do with there being any previous versions of this particular virus!!! Because...there aren't any previous versions of it! But if there were, they prob would have had snappier names.

Coronaviruses (named for the "crown" of spikes on their surface) are a family of viruses that can cause respiratory tract illnesses in humans. These range from the coronaviruses that cause diseases like SARS and MERS, to some coronaviruses that can cause different common colds. COVID-19 is a new disease caused by a novel (aka NEW) coronavirus.

So let's get this straight folks...COVID-19 has not been around before. It's brand spankin' new — the 19 has NOTHING to do with the "version" of the disease and everything to do with the fact that it was first detected in December 2019. Here's another joke.

    I mean, I LIKE Blink-182, but Blinks 1-181 don't get nearly enough credit. #COVID1
