Ariel Winter Just Shut Down Nash Grier In An Open Letter On Instagram

    Winter tweeted the hashtag, "#whydoyouhavefans."

Modern Family's Ariel Winter let loose on Nash Grier on Sunday, calling out the social media star for being homophobic, racist, and sexist.

After #FavNashVid started to trend on Twitter, Winter sarcastically responded with her personal favorite — "that one time when he was just super homophobic and ignorant."

#FavNashVid that one time when he was just super homophobic and ignorant? #whydoyouhavefans

In July 2014, Grier posted a video to Vine suggesting that only gay people get HIV. In addition, this Daily Dot post chronicles the star's use of homophobic slurs on Twitter.

But Winter didn't stop there. She then posted this open letter to Grier on Instagram.

"I have fans because they know the real world." Yes, people make mistakes. We are all human. However, a mistake is generally something you make once. Your homophobic video that you made when you were 14 was not the only time you spouted homophobic slurs. Your twitter was full of them before you posted the video AND after! With access to the internet, how could you be so ignorant to think that the word you used was not excessively harmful? Additionally, just because you had no following back then, does not make what you said okay. I can't even believe that you would use that as an excuse! Let's also not forget that you made a completely misogynistic video telling all young women what we have to do to get your attention! You say that we have to shave our entire bodies (including our arms?!) to be attractive and that our peach fuzz around our lips is super gross to kiss. We also have to entertain you at all times! So along with being homophobic, you are also lowering women's self esteem! Lastly... let's not forget about you tweeting "getting paranoid when there's a muslim around" or about how you made a vine mocking how Asian people name their kids! How can one person say so many terrible things on every end of the spectrum and never realize they're wrong? I also don't buy that you were young and didn't understand the impact of your words. You and I are the same age, and regardless of what you say, we live in America, not under a rock. You and I are fortunate enough to have access to television, the internet, magazines, etc that daily stress to us the importance of social and racial tolerance. I remember seeing this stuff way before I was 14. When we were 14, teenagers were committing suicide from comments like yours. You only apologized for that video and stopped using that phrase after it started affecting your pocketbook and chipping away at your fame. In a time when women are fighting for beauty to not be defined by anyone, especially a man, you, a member of my generation, proved your ignorance. I wish you were inspiring our generation, and working towards change like the rest of us, but unfortunately, you are not. So no, I don't believe your views have changed, I just believe your forum for spouting them has changed. #sorrynotsorryxo, Ariel Winter

Grier responded to Winter on Twitter, seeking to "explain why [her] opinion about others opinions are far from reality."

. @arielwinter1 sorry, I just saw this! I would LOVE to talk you & explain why your opinion about others opinions are far from reality. DMs?

But Winter wasn't having anything to do with it.

    Case closed!
