Arun Manoharan and Ajitha Jeganathan are serious about basketball. Like, spending every Valentine's Day watching the All-Star Game serious. So when it came time to tie the knot, incorporating the game and their favourite team, the Raptors, was a no-brainer.
"Since it was more difficult to incorporate basketball into the Hindu ceremony we chose to do a post-wedding photo shoot at a basketball court with our wedding party," Jeganathan told BuzzFeed Canada.
And they totally nailed it. A slam dunk, if you will.
Photographer Mugunthan Sundaran captured these stunning photos of the wedding party having a blast on the court. But the theme also carried through to the wedding itself.
"My sister surprised us with custom homemade Raptors cake toppers that were outfitted like us on the day of the reception. I think it added a perfect touch of Raptors to our reception."
Unfortunately they had to scrap their idea of a Raptors vest for Manoharan to wear to the wedding, but they did have Raptors-themed shirts made for his bachelor party.
As another special touch, Jeganathan surprised her husband with a special edition Toronto All-Star 2016 ball signed by Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and Andrew Wiggins. "He absolutely loved it," she said.
And although the Raptors are now out of the playoffs, this couple proves that at least love is still winning.
