This is Randi Bergman, a 31-year-old Toronto woman who found the most magical gift from her 13-year-old self.
Tucked away in her childhood closet, she found a three-part time capsule stuffed with heart-bursting amounts of nostalgia from 1998. She's been sharing the treasures inside on Instagram.
She made the capsule between the ages of 12 and 13, and her young self documented everything meticulously.
"To be honest, when I discovered it, I didn't even remember doing it," Bergman told BuzzFeed Canada. "I just know that I was obsessed with documenting things."
She'd documented everything, including a list of her crushes and precisely how long they lasted.
And every movie she saw that year. She would even write down who she saw the movie with, and a rating out of five.
"Sunglasses that I broke but I wore all summer," says a plastic baggy containing some painfully '90s shades.
"One of the boxes just includes any clipping from the newspaper about the Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Titanic, any world event I thought was important."
She even included some spare elastics for her braces.
"I think it’s just something that everyone can relate to and it really speaks to that innocence and that fervor that kids have," she said.
"Your hormones are coming to light at a certain point, so your crushes are so intense."
"I remember at the time having conversation with friends and everything was a competition about who would do more sexually with the Backstreet Boys even though none of us had ever even kissed someone."
