New York Undercover was a ground breaking crime drama that ran from 1994-1998. It was the first procedural to have two people of color partnered together, Detective J.C Williams and Detective Eddie Torres. The show was stylish, sexy and the sound track was fire. The action played out over jazz, soul classics and newer r &b and hip-hop tracks. One of the highlights of the show was the musical guest that would play at the club owned by Torres' father. They had legends like James Brown, BB King and Glady's Knight. But there were also newer acts that were on the verge of being icons. Aaliyah Aaliyah sang the Isley Brother's classic "Choosey Lover". Mary J. Blige Mary actually performed at Natalie's twice! In her first appearance she covered Rose Royce's heartbreaking "I'm Going Down" and then returned with (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" making Aretha Franklin proud. Brandy & Tevin Campbell Brandy and Tevin Campbell would've been too young to hangout at Natalie's when they sang their duet "The Closer I Get to You" which was originally made famous by Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. SWV SWV payed tribute to SWITCH with their cover of "They'll Never Be" Boys II Men Before "On Bended Knee" became one of the most popular prom songs of the 90's Boys II Men performed their ballad at Natalie's. D' Angelo D'Angelo's made sure to stop by Natalie's and perform "Lady" after the success for his debut album. Eryka Badu On the heels of her debut album Baduizm, Eryka stopped by Natalie's to rep Rufus and Chaka Kahn with a a cover of "Stay". Monica Another underage songstress that stopped by Natalie's but wasn't allowed to drink was Monica. She covered Al Green's "Let's Stay Together". The Notorious B.I.G Technically B.I.G didn't perform at Natalie's but he graced "New York Undercover" with his presence and a performance of "Juicy".
