    I've always been a last-minute, day-of type of person, which isn't always the best when you're a mom.

    So, last night – realizing Christmas is less than a week away – I went on a late-night binge. A binge into the endless world of Amazon toy reviews.

    Why Amazon? Because I'm a prime member and the two-day shipping is crucial right now.

    In case you, too, suffer from last-minute mom (or aunt/uncle) syndrome and are scrambling around right now trying to find legit Christmas gifts kids will love, here's what I found.

    I am going to preface this by saying that I have a ten-year-old son, but was also shopping for a one-month-old, a two-year-old, and a six-year-old.

    1. A Whipz Mini Racers LED Light Up Glow in The Dark Cars with Ball Spinner and Keychain, because the video for this toy kind of sucked me in. It's like a laser light show in a magical ball.

    Almost every review on this toy said adults love it just as much as kids!

    My son LOVES the game Simon. He also told me I need to take pills to help me remember things the other day and this promises to challenge your brain. So, this seemed like a safe item to put in my cart.

    It's a little pet hospital with plush pets, need I say more?

    Promising review: "This is a great product - bright and colorful - we had one for years that both of my daughters loved to play with so this was a second purchase for a cousin. Ours at home is maybe 5 years old and still looks new. There is a hook on the side for the keys and the top opens up to store the tools and the cubbies work for lots of things - not just the pets it comes with. This item improves hand-eye coordination and teaches kids about colors and matching. Plus, they get to pretend to be a vet and help sick animals! It is so fun to see them caring for their patients. This is not a cheap plastic toy that is going to dull or look worn out any time soon. Great gift for anyone with a 2-4 year old." –Matthew Dallmann

    5. An Osmo interactive tablet, which my son got for his birthday last year and loved. In the Detective Agency game, the kid gets to be a detective and solve mysteries in famous cities around the world.

    Any gift that serves as something educational is always a win for me. FYI: You will need to have the Osmo base/starter kit to play.

    Promising review: "My kids have loved figuring this out. They are six and ten, and the app can adapt to both of them. We use ours with a Kindle Fire. There are several maps included for real places around the globe and one fictional town. But, the app includes real photos and historical facts about the places they visit." –AR

    Promising review: "I bought these for my almost two-year old grandson for Christmas. I was reluctant to get them (a carton of plastic eggs!) but decided to because of the good reviews. He absolutely loved them! This was the second present he opened and he did not want to open anything else! He kept taking them apart and putting them back together.     7. A Jetson Saturn Folding 3-Wheel Kick Scooter, because its safety reviews won me over despite my usual distaste for electric scooters.

    I am usually anti-electric scooters because it seems like an accident waiting to happen...however, kids see other kids who have them and they proceed to beg for one. The key for electric scooters is finding one that is safe and has safety features. The Jetson brand of scooters don't even start moving until the child starts pedaling a little bit and there is also a back safety brake.

    Promising review: "No kidding, my child adores, loves, and thinks this is the coolest scooter ever – rides it everywhere, even in the house. I have to take it everywhere with us in the back of the car. Handlebars fold down for easy storage. We love to take it to local parks, walk trails, anywhere he can ride. I purchased for my son who just turned three, is 38 lbs and 3 1/2 feet tall. He was able to ride the scooter just as it came in the box with no adjustment to the height of the bars. I loved the fact that it came out of the box ready to go. It is a very strong, very sturdy, very stout scooter." –onecutepoohbear

    Promising review: "My 12-month-old really loved it, even before we put batteries in. There are all kinds of little things to interact with, lights, sounds, stuff to pull, a hammer to take out. I’m kinda surprised that he likes it so much as he generally prefers non-toys (Tupperware, pots, pans, etc.) but this toy actually keeps him entertained." –Mama Guacamole

    Promising review: "We liked this game because it was easy to figure out how to play. Basically, someone picks a card and reads it out loud. It will say something like, 'Things Found in Your Glove Box,' or 'Hobbies for Rich People.' Everyone writes down two answers that fit the category. Like for 'Things Found in Your Glove Box,' players might write flashlight, pocketknife, tire gauge, maps, band aids, snacks, water, or whatever else comes to mind. Then you go around and see who came up with the same answer(s) as you. This game moves fast and keeps everyone active. Everyone from older kids to grandma can play. Great for any game night.     The only hesitation I would have on this one would be if it created a mess, BUT the price wasn't bad and I know it would make a kid happy.

    Promising review: "This is the most kid-friendly and fun lab kit you can get. My kids are ages 2 and 4 and cannot get enough of this. Everything in the kit is high-quality, and this kit lasts a very long time. We have done these experiments over and over for 3 months and only recently have used an entire bag of something. We use it on road trips, and all five kids can see the big screen clearly. It's a clever design that holds the iPad securely.
