15 Of The Most Ridiculous Ways Teenagers Broke Up With Each Other On TV Shows

"This apology smoothie is now a breakup smoothie!"

There are some TV breakups that are absolutely devastating.

But there are other TV breakups that are so terrible and ridiculous, they're hard to take seriously. Maybe they're absurdly dramatic, unintentionally funny, or just plain cringey. Teen TV couple breakups are often especially painful to watch.

Here are 15 of the most over-the-top, cringey ways teen TV characters ended relationships:

    1. First, when Jesse cracked an egg on Rachel's head on Glee.

Rachel: "break it like you broke my heart" Jesse dramatically cracks egg, "I loved you"

    2. When Lola dumped Tiny over text message while sitting like five feet away from him on Degrassi: Next Class.

Tiny: "Did you just dump me over text? You're unbelievable," Lola: "Believe it!"

    3. When Jade told Beck he had 10 seconds to follow her outside or their relationship was over on Victorious.

Jade storms outside and counts to 10

    4. When Riley broke up with Buffy by dramatically flying off in a helicopter on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Buffy screams Riley's name as his helicopter flies away
    The WB

    5. When Becky threw a smoothie on Drew on Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Becky: "I will not be broken up with, I'm breaking up with you, this apology smoothie is now a breakup smoothie!"

If there's one thing the Degrassi fanbase can all agree on, it's that these two NEVER should have been a couple in the first place.

    6. When Archie tried to break up with Veronica over the phone and she told him they were "endgame" on Riverdale.

    The CW

    7. When Dean broke up with Rory in front of everyone at the town dance marathon on Gilmore Girls.

Dean breaks up with Rory on the dance floor and launches into a rant about how she's been into Jess for months and it's so obvious to everyone
    The WB

Don't get me wrong, Dean was totally right to break up with Rory over this, but the fact that it happened in the middle of a 24-hour dance marathon is just wild. Imagine you're just trying to dance with your wife and some teenage boy launches into a whole breakup speech.

    8. When Cory tried to break up with Wendy by handing her a note in class on Boy Meets World.

The look of horror on Cory's face when the teacher reads Wendy's ridiculously dramatic love poem to the class...THIS EPISODE IS SO PAINFUL.

    9. When Joey rejected Dawson and he ugly cried on Dawson's Creek.

    The WB

    10. When Archie thought Valerie wanted him back, but then she just spilled her drink on him instead on Riverdale.

Valerie: "I broke up with you because I thought you were a hot mess, clearly I was right"
    The CW

TBH, I actually felt bad for Archie here. He is a hot mess, though.

    11. When Sam told Quinn their Color Me Mine date wasn't happening on Glee.

Sam: "We're not going to Color Me Mine and I'm not your boyfriend"

Sam was definitely right to break up with Quinn after she cheated on him, but the way he says they're not going to Color Me Mine is just SO dramatic and serious that I can't make it through the scene without laughing.

    12. When Guzmán ended things with Lu while they were wearing matching couple's costumes at a Halloween party on Elite.

Guzmán tells Lu: "It's because I don't love you, I don't love you!"

Are Guzmán and Nadia superior? Absolutely. Did I still feel bad for Lu here? Honestly, yeah. The fact that they were wearing matching costumes makes it kind of unintentionally funny, though.

    13. When Ben flew all the way to New York to visit Amy and then just blurted out that Adrian was pregnant with his baby on The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

    14. When Marco found out Dylan was seeing other guys, so he spontaneously kissed Craig to try to make him jealous on Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Yeah, I know this isn't technically a breakup scene, but it's simply too iconic to leave out.

    15. And finally, when Cody and Bailey had their anniversary dinner at the Eiffel Tower in Paris and dramatically broke up on The Suite Life on Deck.

Cody standing on top of the Eiffel Tower: "Maybe we should just break up!"

I know they were on a school trip, but what high school couple just casually goes to the EIFFEL TOWER for their anniversary?! If someone dumped me there, I'd be furious.
