15 Embarrassing Moments You Hope No One Noticed

...but of course, someone saw you.

    1. You Picked Your Nose

We've all done it and we've all played it off. It's a lot like that Seinfeld episode ("No! It wasn't a pick, it was a scratch!"), but sometimes there's just really no explaining it, and you have to own up to it. After all, we've all done it. Just take a look around before you go in for the kill.

    2. You Walked into an Impeccably Clean Glass Door

This is a recurring story on America's Funniest Home Videos. We've all been in a rush for that morning coffee, but that's no excuse to not check for a door handle. This is particularly common in cities where window cleaning is an art form—NYC, I'm looking at you. A helpful hint: walk slower.

    3. You Trip UP the Stairs

Gravity is unforgiving, okay, I get it. You don't have to explain it to me. But when you take a tumble up the stairs (not down), it seems like you're really trying to earn yourself that "most clumsy" title. So if/when it happens to you, just get your bearings, laugh it off and climb to the top of that mountain of shame. Just cross your fingers that it doesn't happen on your way out of the subway at rush hour.

    4. You Sneeze…Everywhere

There's something particularly anxiety-inducing about the buildup before a sneeze. You want to sneeze, but when you're in a big group of people. Sometimes you're afraid that it'll be too loud. Other times, you're afraid it'll be more of a physical production…if you know what I mean. The best advice here is to avoid the sneeze until you're out of range. Easier said than done, I know.

    5. You’re the One Who Tracked Mud In

Rainy days suck. What sucks even more is coming into work and forgetting to wipe your shoes on the entry mat. No one wants to be the person with the disgusting footprints leading to his or her desk. Hey, how can they blame you though? You don't control the weather.

    6. The Classic Toilet Paper/Shoe Thing

If there's one embarrassing situation that TV and movies have taught us (that really does translate into real life), it's that a piece of toilet paper trailing from your shoe is an all-too-real concern. But if you keep your wits about you, you can be sure to leave it in the bathroom where it belongs. Just look down.

    7. Spilling Coffee as You Take a Drink

There's nothing that says "I'm clumsy" more than when you go for a drink of coffee (or anything, really) only to find most of it on your shirt. Thankfully, this is something that can be fixed if those surrounding you miss the initial slip-up. Go for a quick wipe and move on. The key here is to act natural.

    8. Wearing Two Different Socks

Ahh, the classic, "I was too tired to properly dress myself" situation. There's no explaining this one either. Just keep your pants uncuffed and your feet firmly planted on the ground.

    9. Falling Asleep at Your Desk

This one is equal parts embarrassing and unprofessional. Nothing like a sure-fire way to get laughed at and disciplined. Just…don't do it.

    10. Wearing Your T-Shirt Inside Out

Please refer to number 8 and dial it up a notch. If you notice it before someone else, consider yourself lucky. Head to the bathroom, flip it around and no one will be any the wiser.

    11. Same Shirt Two Days in a Row

This might be an indication of a fun night last night. Or it might be an indication that you didn't do your laundry. If it happens to you, call it the former.

    12. Opening Explosive Soda

There's no telling when a dud-soda can will blow up in your face. And to be honest, this isn't exactly your fault. That doesn't really prevent any embarrassment though. Just hope it doesn't happen to you in your brand new car. That's insult to injury right there.

    13. Getting Sprayed by a Sidewalk Puddle

Again, not really your fault, but still embarrassing nonetheless. Though a simple maneuver away from the stampede of busses on a rainy day wouldn't hurt.

    14. A Hole in Your Pants

This is embarrassing, but it's also a wake-up call to go shopping. Excuse yourself on a lunch break and your style sense will thank you.

    15. Listening to that Guilty Pleasure Spotify Playlist

This one takes a bit more stalking for people to find out, but when it comes to Spotify the "private listening" option can be your best friend. No one needs to know that your Wednesday jam is Bieber and Christmas music (let's hope not in the same song).
