1. Charlie Sheen was written off Two and a Half Men after giving a series of controversial interviews in 2011. Sheen infamously called Chuck Lorre a "stupid, stupid little man" and told TMZ he “violently hated” the showrunner.
2. Mandy Patinkin strongly disagreed with the senseless violence portrayed on Criminal Minds, and executive producers claim he ghosted the cast and crew after the show's second season. "I behaved abominably," Patinkin admitted to the New York Times after his character, Jason Gideon, exited the series.
3. Isaiah Washington used an anti-gay slur on set, reportedly directed at costar T.R. Knight, which led to Dr. Preston Burke being written off Grey's Anatomy.
4. Valerie Harper demanded a raise and a larger syndication cut for her work on Valerie, which angered NBC programming chief Brandon Tartikoff. Harper's requests led to some tense contract negotiations with NBC. As a result, her character was killed in a car accident and the series rebranded from Valerie to The Hogan Family.
6. Taylor Momsen did not return as Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl after reports of her volatile behavior. Project Runway's Tim Gunn guest-starred on an episode in 2010 and slammed Momsen's "diva" attitude on set. He told E! News, "She was pathetic, she couldn’t remember her lines, and she didn’t even have that many."
7. Roseanne Barr was fired from Roseanne after she posted a racist tweet directed at Valerie Jarrett, a former president Obama advisor. “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values,” ABC's entertainment president, Channing Dungey, stated during the show's cancellation announcement. The series continued as The Conners, without Barr at the helm.
8. Shannen Doherty was written off the teen drama 90210 after cast members and crew complained about her habitual lateness to work. "Her lateness was appalling, and she had a callous attitude and an indifference," executive producer Charles Rosin shared with Entertainment Weekly.
9. TJ Miller's character, Erlich, was abandoned in a Tibetan opium den on Silicon Valley after the comedian stopped showing interest in the series. “There are a lot of different ways you can find out somebody doesn’t want to do the show anymore," creator Mike Judge told Hollywood Reporter. “And it’s not fun to work with someone who doesn’t want to be there, [especially when] they’re one of the main people and you’ve got however many crew members and extras and people who are [not paid as well] and they’re all showing up before 7 a.m., and then are just like, ‘Oh, OK, we’re not shooting today.'”
10. After multiple arrests and accusations of domestic violence from his then-wife, Columbus Short was fired from his role as Harrison Wright on Scandal.
11. Thomas Gibson, Aaron Hotchner on Criminal Minds, was fired after a violent outburst on set and verbal abuse directed at fellow cast and crew members. This was the second violent incident from Gibson, who attended anger management classes in 2010 after allegedly pushing assistant director Ian Woolf.
12. Jay Thomas, who played Carla Tortelli's hockey player husband on Cheers, was fired after disrespecting his costar during a radio interview. When asked about working on Cheers, Thomas replied, “It’s brutal. I have to kiss Rhea Perlman.” Perlman was allegedly listening to the interview live, and when Season 8 returned to air, it was revealed Eddie LeBec was killed in a freak Zamboni accident.
13. John Rhys-Davies was written off the '90s sci-fi series Sliders after calling the scripts "incomprehensible gibberish." The Professor Arturo actor spoke with Digital Spy about his exit from the series, "I think it was the single biggest missed opportunity of my life. I regret it deeply."
14. And Clayne Crawford was fired from playing Martin Riggs on Lethal Weapon after multiple incidents of bad behavior on set. He famously feuded with his costar, Damon Wayans, after Wayans was hit with shrapnel during a scene Crawford was directing. Wayans took to Twitter to share a graphic video of the incident along with claims that Crawford was an "emotional terrorist" on set.
