My boyfriend and I have been dating for over four years, and met while we were in college. We hooked up for our entire junior year without dating, and by senior year, we decided we may as well try it out for real. We had a great year together, and very quickly fell in love, seeing as how we had known each other for a while before that. Unfortunately, we knew that when graduation came, I would be moving out to Chicago, and he would be moving to DC. After talking about it, we decided that since we had tried out dating, and that had worked out (obviously), we may as well try long distance too! It was definitely hard, but we tried to see each other at least once a month, and planned awesome adventures on the weekends we spent together. It also helped that I was hoping to eventually go to law school in DC, so there was at least an end to the long distance in sight. I moved to DC over two years ago, and we’ve fallen more in love every day. We now have a dog, and are planning to move in together early next year. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I’m so glad we decided we “may as well try it out.” Long story short, if you love the person, there’s never any harm in trying to make it work!
