"The Adventure Zone" Card Game Is On The Way, And I'm Adding It To My Wishlist Right Now

The McElroy Family and Twogether studios have announced The Adventure Zone: Bureau of Balance, a cooperative card game based on the first arc of the podcast.

If you're a fan of comedy podcasts and/or Dungeons & Dragons, you've almost definitely heard of The Adventure Zone. The podcast — in which the brothers Justin, Travis, and Griffin McElroy play the tabletop roleplaying game with their dad, Clint — is hilarious, weird, at times incredibly touching, and hugely popular among D&D fans and non-D&D fans alike.

Well, now the McElroy Family has partnered with Twogether Studios to release The Adventure Zone: Bureau of Balance, a cooperative card game that'll let you and your friends create your own adventures within the world of the Balance arc. (No previous roleplaying experience required!)

And instead of taking years (you know, like the podcast did), one session of the Bureau of Balance card game can be completed in about an hour. Even better, each time you play, you and your friends will find yourself tackling different challenges, from battling wise-cracking specters to trying to out-race a train.

And yes, you'll get to visit some familiar settings and meet some mighty characters as well.

According to Griffin McElroy, this game was a long time in the making. "We’ve wanted to make an Adventure Zone tabletop game of some sort for as long as we’ve been making the show," he said. "Unfortunately, the insufferably strong opinions we have about what makes a good tabletop game made coming up with the right idea for said project a near impossibility."

You can pre-order The Adventure Zone: Bureau of Balance game on theadventurezonegame.com from December 11, 2019 until January 24, 2020. Anyone who pre-orders can also get some exclusive content, like special card items, a special edition of the game, and the opportunity to influence future card ideas.

    Happy gaming!
