I Only Just Discovered That Woolies Has A Daily "Quiet Hour" To Assist Shoppers With Sensory Needs

Petition to make "quiet hour" mandatory in every store. 🤫🤫🤫

In this latest instalment of a series I like to call "Things That TikTok Taught Me", I must reveal that I have only just learned about the wonderful initiative known as "quiet hour" at Woolworths.

The hour takes place from 10:30-11:30am daily at participating stores around the country — and is a dedicated time slot that tailors to shoppers with sensory needs.

In an illuminating TikTok on the official Woolworths account, a spokesperson responded to a commenter's request to: "Please do a video on 'quiet hour' — I only just found out about it and it should be advertised more!"

In the clip, the spokesperson explains: "Quiet hour is a low sensory experience in our stores, to reduce stress and anxiety for individuals with specific needs, including autism."

"So we turn off the PA system, turn down the music, leave our roll cages in the back dock..."

"...turn down the lights, turn off our oven buzzes and all this creates a calm environment for our customers."

In the comments, Aussies shared their praise of "quiet hour", as well as their requests that it be more commonly mandated across different stores:

So, what do you think — should more stores take up a dedicated "quiet hour"? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
