In Australia, This Is What A $600,000 Home Looks Like In 12 Cities

    Someone please buy me a one-way ticket to Hobart.

    Remember when buying a home in Australia didn't mean committing to a lifetime of crippling debt and anxiety? Lol, me neither.

    But in the interest of expanding my sights beyond Sydney's suffocating property market, I wanted to find out what a ~reasonable~ $600,000 would buy me across the country. Here's what I found...

    1. Banyo, Queensland — $550,000

    Amenities: Air conditioning, hardwood timber floors, fully fenced garden, chicken yard (!!!), citrus and banana trees, raised garden beds packed full of vegetables and herbs.

    2. Pomona, Queensland — $595,000

    Amenities: Modern kitchen with caesarstone benchtop, huge living area and hardwood flooring, double lock-up garage and lush, sweeping views of the Noosa Hinterland.

    3. Potts Point, New South Wales — $550,000

    Amenities: Common rooftop pool with 360 degree views of Sydney Harbour and CBD, custom built kitchen with stone benchtops and a ~snazzy~ wall-bed that pops right out of the living room wall.

    4. Katoomba, New South Wales — $560,000

    Amenities: High ceilings, timber floors, freshly painted walls, gas kitchen and the quaintest, period charm you ever did see.

    5. Brunswick, Victoria — $535,000

    Amenities: Large balcony, sustainable bamboo floors, well-equipped modern kitchen, separate storage cage and slimline art hanging system.

    6. Kangaroo Flat, Victoria — $580,000

    Amenities: Cute AF exterior (this baby was built in 1878), original fireplace, recently renovated bathroom, bullnose verandah and alfresco dining area.

    7. Adelaide, South Australia — $580,000

    12. Casey, ACT — $579,000

    Amenities: Contemporary single level home, all bedrooms with built-in-robes, modern ensuite and main bathroom, separate living and family rooms, ducted gas heating throughout (important because: Canberra).
