Millennials, Prepare To Feel Old As Dust When You Remember These "Little Golden Books" From Your Childhood

Mum would always pass you one of these in the doctor's waiting room and 8/10 times it was sticky.

I'm just going to come out and say it: Kids these days don't know how good they've got it.

You know, aside from facing the ongoing threat of climate change, crippling self-esteem issues cause by social media, increasingly high levels of depression and anxiety etc.Β

But when it comes to entertainment, oh boy have they got it made.

Bored sitting at a cafe while Dad gass-bags with the locals? Here, play a game on his iPhone. Got a six-hour road trip with the fam? Just open the laptop and chuck on a film. Stuck inside all day while it pisses it down with rain? No worries, you've got limitless bingeable TV at your fingertips.Β

Which brings me to an absolute relic of '90s childhood β€” and a treasured means of curing kids' boredom β€” the Little Golden Books series.

These small-but-mighty books were everywhere in the '80s and '90s β€” from your classroom, to the doctor's waiting room, to your own bookshelves (which were packed to the brim with the entire Disney collection).

And these books didn't just entertain, they enriched! They had kids learning about everything from good manners, to tidy house-keeping skills.

I mean, you tell me: Who is teaching children today to serve others before themselves? Because it was a Little Golden Book that had our backs!

On the back of every book you always found this iconic description for the series, calling them "books to grow with" β€” and oh man, all the nostalgic feels are coming back to me now.

The best part was, they retailed for about $1 a book β€” so you knew your chances of convincing Mum to buy you a new one were fairly high.

Hmmm, do I want to learn how to fly, or play violin with Mrs. Ticklefeather?Β

So tell me, fellow adults fighting to hold onto your youth, which Little Golden Book would you like to read tonight?
