Here's What $300 A Week In Rent Looks Like In 15 Aussie Suburbs

    For once, Sydney is not the absolute worst.

    As a 20-something living in Oz, finding your dream home can be hard AF.

    So we compared 15 Aussie rentals to see which one offered the best share-house potential.

    The rules: The total weekly rent had to be divided by the number of rooms in the home, which couldn’t equal more than $300.

    1. Balgowlah, New South Wales — $550 p/w ($275 per room)

    Amenities: Floor-to-ceiling built in robes, sunny balcony with park outlook, updated kitchen and bathroom, plus communal gardens.

    2. St Kilda, Victoria — $580 p/w ($290 per room)

    Amenities: Built in robes, two private courtyards and ebony hardwood floors. This baby also comes fully furnished, which means you get to enjoy designer furniture, unique pendant lighting and original artwork throughout the space.

    3. Como, Western Australia — $390 p/w ($130 per room)

    Amenities: Separate formal lounge, master bedroom with generous walk in robe and ensuite bathroom and an undercover paved patio for alfresco entertaining.

    4. Leura, New South Wales — $620 p/w ($155 per room)

    Amenities: An open-plan kitchen, ample storage, two living areas, a study nook and a large enclosed entertaining area in a quiet bush setting.

    5. Green Point, New South Wales — $595 p/w ($149 per room)

    Amenities: Polished timber floors, high ceilings, timber accents, stone bench tops and modern appliances, large bedrooms and water views (WATER. VIEWS.)!

    6. Lake Wendouree, Victoria — $490 p/w ($163 per room)

    Amenities: Built in robes, open plan kitchen, dining and lounge room, beautiful deck and gardens, separate teenagers retreat (read: adult games room).

    7. Launceston, Tasmania — $450 p/w ($112 per room)

    Amenities: Functional kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a paved entertainment area — perfect for the handful of summery days when it's actually warm enough to sit outdoors in Launceston.

    8. Sandy Bay, Tasmania — $550 p/w ($183 per room)

    Amenities: One central bathroom with a claw foot bath (would move in just for the 'grams), reverse cycle air conditioner and wood fire, a large verandah offering stunning water views and also – solar power!

    9. Griffith, ACT — $595 p/w ($298 per room)

    Amenities: Combined living and dining room area with sunny northerly aspect, main bedroom with walk in wardrobe, ensuite and balcony, split system air-con and a full length covered balcony.

    10. Darwin City, Northern Territory — $550 p/w ($183 per room)

    Amenities: Built in robes, an open plan living area with balcony access, stunning ultra-modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances, communal wet-edge in-ground pool and a gym.

    11. Broome, Western Australia — $480 p/w ($240 per room)

    Amenities: Fully furnished, open plan living and kitchen, a separate laundry and single garage.

    12. Adelaide, South Australia — $450 p/w ($225 per room)

    Amenities: A private balcony for the master room, open plan living and dining rooms with polished floor boards, lounge with plantation shutters and undercover outdoor entertaining area.

    13. Hewett, South Australia — $450 p/w ($113 per room)

    15. Noosaville, Queensland — $590 p/w ($148 per room)

    In conclusion: It's time we all stopped drinking the Sydney/Melbourne Kool-Aid and started packing our bags for Adelaide.
