What can you never have enough of at a BBQ?

To you there is no definitive BBQ season because all year is BBQ season. You love to take charge of the grill as soon as you arrive — while others may try to steal the reins from you, you know deep inside that you’re the best BBQer there is (and maybe ever has been) and deserve the throne.

The person who hogs the BBQ

You’re not quite sure what you’re doing at this BBQ — you were invited by a friend of a friend of a friend and that person hasn’t turned up so to quell your social anxiety, you’ve taken to a menial task: removing all the cling film and packaging from the meat and vegetables. You’ve even poured some condiments out into cute ramekins that you found from snooping around the host’s kitchen.

Your friends know you to be the mum of the group. You always know the right thing to say and how to support someone, even with the smallest of gestures. But, you can also be a bit of a fusser and with most of the BBQ tasks under control, you’ve taken to worrying that there may not be enough ice available. Cue a few mad runs to local supermarkets to see whether they’ve got any bags of the stuff in stock.

You are always two things: forgetful and hungry. This combination of personality traits means that you’re always the person at a BBQ who forgets to bring anything, but manages to eat the most. While your forgetfulness on this occasion may be a bit annoying to some, they almost always forgive you for it since you always bring the fun with you. You know how to work a room and how to get everyone into the party mood.

The person who brings nothing but eats everything

You became a vegetarian fairly recently, so when you were invited to a BBQ you spent a good amount of time researching how to be a vegetarian at a predominantly meat-eating event. You came prepared with a tupperware full of pre-marinated vegetables, and a bowl of watermelon and feta salad.

There are 3 things you love in this life: Sun, sangria and the smell of meat cooking on a barbeque grill. You say yes to almost every BBQ event invite that you get. You’re the perfect guest in a lot of ways — you always bring plenty of food, are happy to help with set-up and you’re a great mixologist, so people love having you over even if you end the night slurring your words a bit.

The person who gets tipsy first

In your humble opinion, you have the best musical taste out of all your friends. Perhaps even out of anyone ever. In an alternative timeline you are living out your dream of being a successful music producer, but in this one you’re an accountant with a penchant for making playlists for every and all occasions. You spent a good 3 hours making one for this BBQ and think you have created the perfect ~vibe~ for it — you’ve calculated the exact timings that the event should run to and have crafted a playlist that will enhance every moment and elevate this BBQ from one of many, to the best one that ever was.

The self-appointed DJ

You’re not a natural born host, but you’re the only one out of your group of friends who has a garden that is big enough for more than 4 people to squeeze into. While you sometimes aren’t ready to have a barrage of people over, you always end up having such a good time that even the clean up doesn’t irk you.
