Often, far after you've turned the TV off or left the movie theater, the thing that lingers longest about a film you've just seen is the tragedy of the character or characters that died in it. It's heartbreaking to watch someone who you've spent a good chunk of time getting to know die on screen. And 2023 had its fair share of character deaths that are just too much to bear. We're curious about which ones stood out for you.

For example, it was unsettling to watch countless members of the Osage tribe be murdered in the film Killers of the Flower Moon, which was based on real killings in the 1920s.
