She was joined by three cast members: America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, and Issa Rae.
In addition to discussing the film and playing a game of “famous dolls trivia,” the cast also revealed their personal connections to Barbie, the doll.
While America said she didn’t play with Barbies growing up and Issa said she did so secretly as to not appear uncool, Margot said she received a fold-out Barbie Dreamhouse playset one Christmas. She became “obsessed” with it.
In fact, she was so in love with the Barbie Dreamhouse that it quickly came up when she first began discussing the film with its director, Greta Gerwig.
“I’ll follow your vision. Whatever you want this Barbie movie to be, let’s do that. Except I just have one favor,” she recalled telling Greta.
“Please, please, please can we have a Dreamhouse where she has a slide that goes from her bedroom down to her pool, because that is my goal in life," she said on the show.
Margot said Greta approved the request for the pink slide, and it’s even teased in the film’s main trailer, which dropped in May.
In the second scene of the trailer, Barbie floats down from her Dreamhouse to her car on the street below.
As you can see, there's a pink slide in the background that appears to be descending from the top of the home into a pool.
So, it's clear that Margot got her wish, and thank god she did, because the set perfectly captures the Barbie Dreamhouse with its open (like, no exterior walls) design.
