There's Finally A Word For When Someone Ghosts You But Still Watches Your Insta Story

"Isn’t it wild how people who ghosted you still watch every single one of your Instagram stories?"

Unless you've been living under a rock, you definitely know about ghosting.

For those who are unaware, here's the Urban Dictionary definition of the term: "The act of suddenly ceasing all communication with someone the subject is dating, but no longer wishes to date. This is done in hopes that the ghostee will just 'get the hint' and leave the subject alone, as opposed to the subject simply telling them he/she is no longer interested."

But "ghosting," as a term, has its limits. What do you call it when someone ghosts you...but doesn't completely disappear from your life?

Writer Anna Iovine seems to have coined the term back in April after a guy she was dating quit texting her back but still watched her Insta and Snapchat stories.

She hypothesized that orbiting might be the ghoster keeping the ghostee an arm's length away or simply backburnering them out of FOMO.
