15 Shows Whose Cancellations Rocked The World (Or At Least MY World)

I'll never forgive Netflix for cancelling The Society so soon.

This may be the new "Golden Age of Television," but these cancellations made it feel like the end of the world as I knew it.

OK, maybe that's an exaggeration, but hey. I still felt a little lost when I heard these shows got cancelled:

1. Reign

CW

Did the show have a finalized ending that felt good with the characters story arcs? Sure. Did I want (NEED) more anyway? ABSOLUTELY.

2. Degrassi: Next Class

Netflix

I know, I know. HBO Max is doing a reboot. But I had to wait YEARS to finally realize this had even been cancelled. The final season was released in 2017 and cancelled in 2019. Two years of waiting...to be greeted by a cancellation. Yeah. That hurt.

3. Archive 81

Netflix

This was trending for days in the Netflix Top 10 after it was released, but alas. Netflix gave it one season with a cliffhanger ending before cancelling. Classic.

4. Katy Keene

CW

How could they get me so invested in a Riverdale spinoff that is basically The Carrie Diaries 2.0...just for the CW to only give it 13 episodes?!

5. The Carrie Diaries

Speaking of The Carrie Diaries! I should say — I have NEVER watched Sex and the City. And yet I was compelled to watch all of this and be totally devastated to find out The CW had already cancelled it.

6. American Vandal

Netflix

One of the best Netflix originals I have ever watched. I love a good mockumentary. It was ridiculous. But once again. Netflix said, "You like this? Okay. I will be taking it away now :)."

7. Colony

USA Network

Did anyone watch this show?! Anyone other than me and my family? I know some people did because I signed an online petition to bring it back...but to no avail. It ended on a cliffhanger that killed me on the inside.

8. The Society

Netflix

Imagine it. Getting renewed for Season 2. Making a whole announcement video about it. And then Netflix taking it back. That was my villain origin story.

9. Julie and the Phantoms

Netflix

Cancelling a show with a song as hauntingly beautiful as "Unsaid Emily" is cruel. The cast was perfect. The songs were perfect. The plot was interesting and fun. Netflix, what are you doing?

10. Dash & Lily

Netflix

Another Season 1 cancellation. A cozy little rom-com TV show that takes place during Christmas. What's not to love?! My heart still aches at this loss.

11. Rise

NBC

Surprise! Not a Netflix or CW cancellation, but an NBC one! They too have betrayed me.

12. Marvel's Runaways

Hulu/Marvel

Put them into the MCU canon, Marvel. Do it. Add them to the main timeline. I am BEGGING. (I adore this cast).

13. The Royals

E!

This was at the height of my obsession with anything and everything royalcore. And although it was modern day royalty, I still loved it. The Royals, you are forever in my heart <3.

14. The Purge

USA Network

You don't understand. I am a Purge franchise enthusiast. So this show was EVERYTHING to me. And yet, only two seasons?! Despite me begging everyone I know to watch it (they did not).

15. And Good Girls

NBC

Honestly...I feel a little responsible for this one. After Season 1, I forgot to watch. So, to the show Good Girls, I say: my bad.
