25 Things That Happen When You Get Into Yoga

1. Your time on the mat changes your time off the mat.

Ujjayi breath has made its way into your work day, you set daily intentions when you're feeling stressed, and you really try to live out the mind/body connection in your day-to-day.

2. You become one of THOSE people who won't shut up about their practice.

But seriously, guys, I hit a real breakthrough with bakasana to tripod headstand today.

3. You have YOUR favorite props.

Don't touch my special, less squishy blocks and no one gets hurt.

4. You develop muscles you never knew you had.

5. You'll use any space to practice, no matter how small.

6. You realize that yoga sweat is very, very intense.

There's nothing like that feel of sweat streaming off your body when you tip back for reverse warrior.

7. Inversions used to scare you, but now you see how satisfying and challenging they can be.

8. You hate to admit it, but sometimes you still get confused by the strap.

How do I make this into a loop???

9. You try to get everyone to try yoga, just once.

"After class, you'll feel SO GREAT!"

10. Nothing feels better than a good eagle wrap at the end of the day.

11. You spend a good part of your work day considering quitting and doing yoga teacher training.

12. Your mat goes everywhere with you, like a best buddy.

13. Perfecting your vinyasa is at the top of your goals.

14. You've finally mastered the art of balancing in tree pose.

Focus on one point straight ahead!

15. Your collection of to-and-from class shoes expands rapidly.

16. Absolutely nothing will stop you from getting in a morning practice.

17. You've found new and creative ways to flip someone "the bird."

18. You develop abs, even though you're not really sure how.

19. Other forms of physical activity now seem impossibly tedious.


20. Suddenly, spending tons of money on fancy yoga gear doesn't seem as outlandish.

Not that you can afford to do that. But the ~idea~ makes more sense.

21. Eating healthier has started not to seem so scary after all.

22. Not even work can stop you from getting a stretch in.

23. You totally grow closer with your other wonderfully crazy yoga pals.

24. You have regular fantasies about being able to do scorpion.

25. But sometimes, you really ARE just there for the savasana.
