Recasting TV and movie characters is a pretty common practice in Hollywood.
There are plenty of reasons it happens — sometimes an actor can't fit the show into their schedule, like Ross Butler, who left Riverdale to film13 Reasons Why.
Other times, an actor doesn't even realize they've been recast until after the fact, like Kimberly J. Brown, who played Marnie in the first three Halloweentown movies before being replaced by Sara Paxton.
