Here's The Refresher You Need On The First Two "A Christmas Prince" Movies

Because the plot is very important.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby is here. Yes, we've made it to the THIRD Christmas Prince movie in as many years.

If you're keen to watch it but CBF to rewatch the previous two, here's the refresher you might need – starting where it all began: A Christmas Prince.

I'm sure the details of that masterpiece are forever imprinted on your brain, but let me tell you again anyway: Amber was a budding journalist sent to the Totally Real European country of Aldovia to dig up dirt on the royal family.

Specifically on Crown Prince Richard, who was about to become king following his father's death. He supposedly had a playboy attitude and, of course, was reluctant to take the throne.

Amber somehow stumbled her way into an undercover investigation, because even though she was a terrible journalist, the security at the Aldovian castle was even worse. So she became the young Princess Emily's tutor and did some snooping on the side.

Naturally, Amber and Richard spent a lot of time together, and she realised he wasn't a playboy, he was actually a Tortured Prince with a Heart of Gold.

Naturally, they fell in love, there was a ball, everyone was happy...

Except – PLOT TWIST – Amber's snooping had uncovered that Richard was actually adopted, a fact which his evil cousin Simon and evil ex-girlfriend Sophia learned and revealed in an attempt to separate Amber and Richard and delegitimise Richard's claim to the throne.

DOUBLE PLOT TWIST, Amber did some more snooping and learned that the previous king had issued a proclamation to ensure Richard was still the legitimate heir to the throne, despite being adopted. He's crowned king and Amber heads back to America.

Back at home, Amber quit her magazine job because they refused to publish her article on how handsome and special King Richard is. She started her own blog called "Amber's Blog" and published it there. Richard saw it, yeeted himself to New York and proposed. On New Year's Eve. Less than a month after meeting Amber. And she said yes.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding picked up one year after the events of A Christmas Prince, with Amber and Richard about to get married (on Christmas day, naturally).

Amber struggled with the rigid royal protocol imposed by Mrs Averill (she wanted her to close her blog!) as well as her wedding being hijacked by the overbearing planner, Sahil.

Richard, meanwhile struggled to implement his creatively titled New Aldovia plan but PLOT TWIST Amber got her snoop on again and discovered – with the help of not-so-evil-anymore cousin Simon – that this shady guy, Lord Leopold, was sabotaging everything.

After much tension and drama Amber and Richard's problems are all sorted and they finally get married (with Amber wearing the most underwhelming royal wedding dress in the history of royal wedding dresses), and Amber is crowned Queen of Aldovia.

And they lived happily ever after! At least until the inevitable speed bumps in A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby...
