This Arya And Jon Moment In The "Game Of Thrones" Premiere Is Very Worrying

Could the Stark siblings turn against each other?

The Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere saw Jon Snow reunited with his favourite sibling, Arya, and it was glorious.

However – there was one part of the interaction that has me very worried. It's no secret that Sansa and Jon don't exactly see eye to eye (and not just in a physical sense). Jon returns to Winterfell expecting Arya to back him up against Sansa, as she always did in the past.

However, thanks to the rather fraught journey the Stark sisters went on in Season 7, they've finally come to respect one another. From Arya's conversation with Jon, it seems like she's definitely Team Sansa.

Arya's comment at the end of the scene about Jon not forgetting he's Sansa's family – that he's a Stark – is particularly ominous. Almost threatening.

There's also a moment earlier in the episode, when Arya first sees Jon riding alongside Dany. She's immediately happy and emotional – but when he rides past without glancing her way, her face drops.

Of course, Jon doesn't know she's there, but the way the scene is framed from Arya's perspective, it seems to plant seeds of discord amongst the pair.

If Jon continues to side with Dany while Sansa is against her – especially if and when his true parentage is revealed – could the Stark sisters perceive it as him turning his back on the family?

And if so – what would they do about it?! He's still the Jon they've always known and loved. But the Stark sisters are much more ruthless than they were in the past.

It's all very worrying. I honestly won't cope with a massive divide amongst the Starks. The PACK survives, after all. But when you think about it, the way Jon found Ghost all the way back in Season 1, Episode 1 – separate and isolated from the pack – could be more symbolic than him simply being a Targaryen. It could be foreshadowing a true divide amongst him and his adopted siblings.

At the very least, it seems likely there will be a lot of tension between Jon and his sisters this season. Hopefully it will be resolved, as the fight between Sansa and Arya was, by them recognising their mutual respect and love.

In amongst all this, the Season 8 premiere also set up potential conflict between Jon and Dany, with Sam urging Jon to take her crown and claim it as his by right.

If that were to happen – and it's a very big if – it could mean the Starks will support Jon's claim. Or who knows, maybe the truth about his parentage will see Jon divided and separated from all the women in his life.

One way or another, he's in for a lot of drama with the people he cares about.

Then again, it could all be moot, because THE NIGHT KING AND HIS ZOMBIE ARMY ARE NEARLY AT WINTERFELL.

Still, all the seeds of conflict planted in the Season 8 premiere have to come to fruition in some way. Perhaps it will be resolved in the next episode – or, more likely, it'll be something the survivors have to deal with in the aftermath of the Battle of Winterfell.

I just need the Starks to be TOGETHER and okay, okay? And that includes Jon.
