This post contains spoilers for Season 6, Episode 8 of Game of Thrones.
After two long seasons apart, Jaime and Brienne finally reunited on Game of Thrones this week and, as predicted, it was intense.
First we got the pure delight of Bronn standing outside Jaime's tent, appointing himself captain of the Brienne and Jaime ship.
It was just perfect.
Inside the tent, we finally saw Jaime and Brienne face off. Brienne did what she did best and put Jaime in his place, while giving our girl Sansa her due.
AND THEN. AND THEN.
He told her Oathkeeper was hers and always would be...
And he was totally secretly talking about his heart...
I mean right?!
I mean asfuabfjabfak.
But seriously, the sword is a big deal – as the showrunners noted in the Inside the Episode segment this week.
Also a big deal? This exchange.
The conflict! The FEELINGS!
It's not insignificant that Jaime's "negotiation" with Edmure happens after this chat with Brienne.
It's true Jaime really wants to get back to Cersei – he's worried about her trial by combat, and for good reason it turns out — but he also REALLY doesn't want to fight Brienne. Or see anyone else die. So he does the only thing he can think of – makes, as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau puts it, a very "believable" threat.

But that wasn't all. We then saw Jaime watch as Brienne escaped Riverrun, not only letting her go but giving this heart-wrenching wave.
It was all too much.
Let's hope, like their last lingering goodbye back in Season 4, this wasn't their final one.
Although with the way things are heading in the North and King's Landing... it might be.
