Because all British people are apparently friends, James Blunt and Ed Sheeran were hanging out at Princess Beatrice's place over the weekend.
And I guess when you're hanging out at your dad's palace, there are swords just laying around? Well, according to The Sun, Beatrice tried to ~knight~ James Blunt with a "ceremonial blade".
But poor old Ed was standing right behind them, and copped the sword right to his face.
I guess it's too bad that the blade wasn't a little more... blunt.
