Soon You'll Be Able To Buy Authentic "Simpsons" Duff Beer

Can't get enough of that wonderful Duff.

Fox has announced this week that they will soon be releasing an authentic version of Homer Simpson's favorite beer, Duff, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The company is reportedly consulting brewmasters to ensure that they get the flavor exactly right.

According to their consumer products president, "it's a premium lager. It's got a very good balance of flavor and refreshment to it. It's fairly deep golden in color. It's got a hint of fruit to it. It's got a caramel aromatic to it."

Over the past decade, many sellers have tried to release their own take on Duff Beer, only to be shut down by lawyers of The Simpsons.

After suing two Australian companies for selling Duff in 1996, Fox refused to allow the Simpsons brand to be used to sell alcohol or tobacco products, stating it would "detrimental to children". They've since changed their tune, allowing the beer to be sold in select theme parks.

There was an effort by Fox a few years ago to sell the beer in Australian supermarket Woolworths, but this was swiftly shut down by complaints that it would encourage underage drinking.

Fox now argues that as the show has had a 26-year run, the audience demographic has widened, and is older than it was 20 years ago.

Duff beer will be available beginning this week in Chile, with plans to expand to the rest of South America and Europe by next year.

Though no plans have been released yet, Fox has not ruled out the sale of Duff Beer in North America at some point in the future.
