Whether You Like It Or Not, You're Actually An Adult Now, So Here Are 39 Products To Check Out

Including things worth making grown-up investments in, like: Sturdy cookware and stuff to keep your appliances working in tip-top shape.

    1. Light dimming stickers since that annoying LED beaming from your TV, computer charger, and just about every power outlet in your bedroom has been keeping you up at night for the past 10 years of your youth. It might finally be time to block it out once and for all.

Another reviewer image with the light dimming tape over the light

This game-changing pack comes in a variety of 100 peel-and-stick dimmers shaped to fit lights on most electrical appliances.

Promising review: "Ingenious little idea. I suffer from migraines, so I know how a little LED light can irritate you in an otherwise pitch black room. This product does a great job of dimming those harsh LED indicators that EVERYTHING seems to have nowadays. They are neat, not unsightly." —Jarom A. Daszko

Get them from Amazon for $4.49.

    2. A silicone toe cap designed to shield and heal ingrown toenails, corns, and bunions that have developed as you've gotten...*said in a hushed voice* older. Coughing up a little cash now is probably the most sensible way to avoid any major problems in the future.

Promising review: "This is an unbelievable product! I work 12-hour shifts in the hospital and need protection for the corn on my left great toe. I purchased the size large and it fit well. Underneath my socks and athletic shoes, I completely forgot I was wearing it — bonus! The silicone is very soft and flexible and cleans easily. The product is priced well for the quality and quantity (six) that is provided. Each toe cap is packaged individually in the bag so the order can be shared with others if desired. I would absolutely recommend this since it has held up quite well for the 17 hours I often have it on (from the time I wake up until I am back from my shift). Cleans and dries easily and has maintained its shape." —LJ

    3. Miracle-Gro food spikes for some true adult-level plant parenting. These work like a fertilizer you can pop in soil, so your potted child can go from limp to full of life, like *click fingers* that.

Promising review: "These can make even the worst gardener look like they know what they're doing. I was given a plant from a neighbor and I subsequently almost killed it. I do not own plants. Every plant I've ever owned died, so I reserved myself to everything plastic, but since I've found these there is a slight glimmer of hope. I put these in the soil of the gifted plant and it brought the plant back to life. I thought it was a lost cause, most of the leaves were brown and dead but it's now growing new leaves and making a comeback. My neighbor recently saw the plant and was so happy it was still alive and thriving, I didn't have the heart to tell her it was almost thrown in the garbage, but since buying and using these I might just take the plunge and buy more live plants." —LexCat

    4. A set of ~luxe~ velvet slip covers to update your drab, worn-in sitting area with a living room glow-up that is a lot more affordable than buying a brand-new couch (we grownups love savings!). And it couldn't be easier for a DIY newb, since you just slide these babies over your seating area and secure them with nonslip straps.

The four-piece set comes with a base cover and three individual cushion covers. AND these covers are also available in a smaller version for armchairs!

Promising review: "I was hesitant about purchasing these since we all know slipcovers are normally a waste of money but these are actually fantastic. Are they new furniture???....well no but they are an excellent affordable 'hold me over.' My furniture was very worn, had some stains, and was definitely starting to embarrass me when friends and family would visit. These completely changed the look of my room and will definitely hold us over until new furniture is an option. I think the pillow covers being individual really do the trick. Please note these are a thinner material so I wouldn't recommend having your pets jump up on your furniture since they definitely wont withstand their nails for any amount of time. I'd highly recommend these to anyone looking for a decent-priced quick fix!" —jessica prasch

This is also great for cleaning your dryer's vents!

Promising review: "Pretty simple to use and must-have for the dryer. I never cleaned my dryer vent bucket, because couldn't reach inside. Now this long, strong and flexing enough dryer vent cleaner works perfect to scrub the stuck lint out of the inside. It's a nice product and easy-to-use cleaner. I'm very satisfied with my purchased and recommend it." —nwklee

Each pack comes with four bands which can stretch from 12 to 18 inches and hold adequate tension.

Promising review: "Say goodbye to rearranging your fitted sheet every morning! My boyfriend sleeps like he’s rolling down a hill, so every morning I would wake up to the scratchy feel of my mattress cover because my soft silk fitted sheet was all over the place. Thanks to these Bed Bands, our sheets stay put no matter what. The only way for your fitted sheet to come off is if you manually remove these first. I wish I would have bought this so much sooner." —Khalysee

    9. Boon drying rack if your collection of bottles and accessories for your tiny human has gone from cute to chaotic. This little lawn will bring order to your drying spot and hosts just about any shaped item — *and* features a tray to collect all the water.

Former BuzzFeed Shopping parenting editor Chandni Reddy has this and raves: "Is it possible for a drying rack to be life-changing? Why yes, it is. I caved and bought this grassy patch after my kitchen started to look like an episode of Hoarders. This thing instantly organized my kitchen by creating a dedicated spot for baby stuff. Bottles, pump parts, sippy cups...this bad boy can hold a LOT (at least six bottles and four cups at once) and dries everything quickly. Did I mention it's a heck of a lot more cheerful and stylish than your regular drying rack?"

Promising review: "Newborn twins are a mess. They took over our house within moments of coming through the door. For this type A mama, it was a horrifying side effect of the two most precious things in the world. A friend gave us one lawn at our shower, and we promptly hopped on Amazon and bought a second to manage the sheer volume. The lawn and the accessories are a convenient and cute way to keep your bottles and pump parts organized. There is ample space in one for one baby's needs." —Lacey

I've had this since college when I used it to carry my heavy load of books, my laptop, and other English major paraphernalia, but it's transitioned flawlessly into my adult life where — OK — I still use it to carry books and my computer. The leather is getting a lovely patina, and the structure of the bag is as strong as the day I got it. It has one zippered interior pocket, which is perfect for keys, cards, or any other tiny necessities. I received this as a gift, so I can confirm that it makes a good one! I rent, and my bathroom wall is cracked, crumbling sheet rock. This paper freshens up the bathroom (which is old as anything). It hides all the raised cracks and crumbles in the wall and looks SOOO MUCH BETTER! I will no longer be embarrassed by anyone using my bath. I’m putting this paper on everything!" —JFerro

Promising review: "I’ve been using this product for a while and I’ve started to a rely on it. I first used this out of desperation. My dishwasher was broken from a fried control panel. I eventually replaced the panel. I opened the dishwasher and it was fairly gross. A little stagnant water gave way to some mold. I found this product and figured I’d give it a shot. I did need to use this two or three times before the dishwasher was cleaned and usable. But I find that a major win considering the shape it was in beforehand. Now I use it every month or two and I have to say way easier than cleaning by hand. Definitely worth the price I paid." —Justin

Fits perfectly in my minimalist kitchen!!! And it looks great on my counter, being one of the few things that I keep on my countertop! It is the perfect amount of knives without being too many knives (I don’t like things in excess)! I have never had a cheese knife before, and this baby is my favorite one in the whole set! LOL! It slices through hard cheeses like butter! Have not tried on soft cheese, but I’m sure it’ll be great because it is super sharp! There are a number of things that bug me in this world, but one thing that consistently grinds my gears is the feeling of soaking wet, sopping sleeves after I've cleansed my face. I've even resorted to just wearing T-shirts to avoid the problem, but then my arms are still soaked and I still end up leaving a puddle of water behind in the bathroom. Enter: these cozy-soft cuffs. They're truly adorable, absorb allll the water, dry quickly, *and* they're machine washable! To me, they're a must-have and worth every single penny to avoid a small but totally annoying problem.

    21. Mighty Patch hydrocolloid pimple patches since adults still get acne *sigh.* These work to absorb pus and shrink zits ~head on~. And! They're great to prevent picking, plus, according to one of our editors, are an effective treatment to avoid scarring and hyperpigmentation.

reviewer with a number of pimple patches placed on their cheek
same reviewer with pimple patches on their face and showing some of them filled with pus 7 to 8 hours later

Melanie Aman, an editor on our shopping team, tried these out and says: "These are hands down the best pimple patches I’ve ever used. Why? Because they actually work. I’ve tried some more cutesy patches that were great for Instagram photos but did nothing to shrink my breakouts. And the pimple patches that touted themselves as basically invisible were — but so were any results. While the Hero Cosmetics pimple patches are a little more visible (but really only noticeable if someone was standing really close to my face), the results are clear to see. (And JSYK, they also make an invisible version, but I have not tried it.)

IMO they work best on whiteheads, drawing out the pus and preventing me from picking. Once all the fluids are drained (yum!), I plop a patch on what was once home to a very angry whitehead and replace it twice a day (once in the morning and once at night). In my experience, that has been the best treatment for preventing really noticeable hyperpigmentation and acne scarring, which my skin is really prone to after breakouts."

Promising review: "I love these oven liners. We moved into a house a few years ago with liners in the oven and I am amazed that I did not know about these before! They have literally saved me from EVER cleaning my stove. They protect the bottom of the stove from spills and are so easy to clean. We just replaced our stove and my first purchase was a new set of liners. They should last for years. These were so easy to trim to fit. Very thick and nice quality. I ordered two so I could also line my toaster oven." —Amazon Customer

    35. A 3D Ostrichpillow eye mask, which comes from the makers of the deep-sea-diver-shaped napping pillow. This soft, cocoon-like eye mask promises a 100% blackout experience, and has cups that contour to your peepers so they don't get smushed. No pain, no light, just pure snooze fest bliss.

I'll be the first to admit it, I'm a little high maintenance when it comes to my sleep. I need complete darkness and complete quiet. So when I know I'm going anywhere that doesn't believe in blackout blinds, or just regular ol' blinds for that matter, I always pack an eye mask. The only problem is, I've struggled to find one that A) doesn't move around when I sleep and B) doesn't let the bleeding light shine through. So as you can imagine, I was just *thrilled* when the Ostrichpillow 100% Blackout Eye Mask was put on my radar — I jumped at the chance to test it out. And, people, it does exactly what it says on the tin. It's super reliable with blocking 1-0-0 percent of the light, and it has an amazing ergonomic design that carves out space for your eyes so your eyelashes don't get all squished — plus, there's even enough room for you to blink, if you wanted to! It's certainly thicker than your average eye mask and sleeping on your side with it on takes some getting used to. But hey, if it stops lamp light, sunlight...whatever kinda light from disturbing my sleep, it's totally worth it.

And it comes with a little travel case!

Get it from Ostrichpillow (available in three colors) or from Amazon (available in two colors) for $45.

    36. A stackable cutlery organizer that will *cue hallelujah music* tidy up your once nightmarish kitchen drawers, and finally arrange silverware so you can open and close said drawers with ease. Goodbye to the days of hodgepodge storage that was jammed with extra knives that your S.O. insisted would fit!

One tray fits up to 24 pieces of cutlery.

Promising review: "THE BEST silverware storage organizer compartments I’ve EVER had in my entire life! We have a large family and therefore have the need for a lot of silverware. Unfortunately we have a small shallow and narrow drawer in our house but it was always full! Constantly disorganized before, and now amazingly organized. The only reason I would hesitate would be if your drawer is not adequately deep, but from reading reviews people said if they had 3.5 inches of depth it would be just fine, which is exactly what I have and there’s adequate drawer depth for me. I measured my skinny drawer and realized I still had space for two units and took the plunge and am so glad I did! Silverware goes quickly from the dishwasher straight into the drawer and you don’t have to stack perfectly to put a lot in!!! ADD IT TO YOUR CART NOW, you’ll be glad you did if you have the same problem as we did!" —oceantiff

    37. A Philips sunrise-mimicking light and alarm clock for anyone who could use some help optimizing their circadian rhythm (aka sleep-wake cycle). This soothing clock won't bolt you up like regular ol' alarms, but instead wake you up gradually *and* it works in reverse with a sunset feature, too. I'm feeling the onset of a nice, deep snooze just thinking about it!

The clock during the beginning of wakeup, with a dim orange/red glow to mimic a sunrise
    Amazon

This simulates the sunrise and sunset with 20 brightness settings that slowly increase over 30 minutes. And with your choice of five different wake-up sounds, the alarm only sounds once it's at its full brightness.

Promising review: "This has really made a big difference in how I wake up every morning. On these short winter days, I always have to wake up before sunrise, and that's...challenging. I found myself hitting the snooze button at least three times, leaving very little time for me to get ready and to work on time. Having the sunrise simulation wakes me up gradually and completely. I almost always wake up fully before the music starts and I have not needed the snooze function yet. All of the wake up sounds were pleasant. I especially like the birdsong with flute music, as it reminds me of being in a spa. I like the dusk option for going to sleep. I set it for 30–60 minutes and read until it's too dark and I drop off to sleep. An additional bonus is that since I'm no longer using my cellphone as my alarm clock, I practice better sleep hygiene and keep my cellphone out of the bedroom. It is a significant investment but it has been worth it." —MsEdinger

    38. A bottle of Drop It to eliminate wine sulfates and tannins that usually lead to a regrettable wine headache (we love getting older). This works rather swiftly so you can indulge in all your reds without fear of developing those pesky allergy-like symptoms.

It's also a lot more cost-effective and environmentally friendly than wine wands or other competitors — a single bottle of this can be used to treat up to 55 glasses of wine, as opposed to wands that can only do a few glasses each before they get tossed. Drop It recommends one to two drops for each glass of white wine, two to three for a glass of red, and seven to nine if you're treating the whole bottle at once. Once it's in the glass, swirl lightly for 20 seconds, and you should be raring to go!

Promising review: "For many years, I have been that friend who always says 'no thanks, I can't drink wine.' Even one small small glass would give me the worst migraine. So I gave up. Several weeks ago, I happened across an ad for Drop It and thought I might as well give it a shot. I took a big risk the day it arrived and had two huge glasses of red wine that I knew would give me a massive migraine the next day. It just so happened I had a midterm that next morning too — so the stakes were high. I woke up feeling fantastic. Since then I have repeated the experiment (to make sure it wasn't a fluke) and found that no matter how much wine I drink, as long as I use the drops, I don't have a migraine the next day. I'm so pleased to have found something that makes wine drinking possible and enjoyable again! I have nothing but great things to say about the product. It's easy to use and very discreet. I visited some friends last week and we spent a few hours at a wine bar. It was easy to add my drops. I took a small taste of the wine before adding the drops and found that it did not alter the taste at all. Thanks for a great product and a great buying experience. I will be back for more." —Mackenzie

    39. Wool dryer balls because, did I hear that correctly...these reduce the time it takes to dry laundry *and* replace the need for dryer sheets and softener? And to think, I had given up on my towels ever being bone dry — but when these are thrown in with them, they draw all the moisture out. Wow. I know what I'm adding to my adulting wishlist STAT.
