29 Kids And Parents From TV Shows Who Actually Look Like They're Related

    Casting done correctly.

We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us which kids and parents from TV shows and movies actually look related. There were so many great TV show responses that we had to give them their very own list!

    1. Adam (Connor Swindells) and Mr. Groff (Alistair Petrie) from Sex Education.

"As soon as I saw them on screen together I had to look it up because I was convinced he was his real son and they had been cast together. I was shocked that they weren’t. Great casting!"

    2. Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) and Cora Crawley (Elizabeth McGovern) from Downton Abbey.

"They looked so convincing as a mother and daughter pairing."

    3. Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Tim (Tim Allen) from Home Improvement.

    4. Björn (Alexander Ludwig) and Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) from Vikings.

"Björn goes through a subtle character transformation through the season and ends up becoming just like his dad."

    5. Orla (Louisa Harland) and Sarah (Kathy Kiera Clarke) from Derry Girls.

    Channel 4

    6. Tonya (Imani Hakim) and Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) from Everybody Hates Chris.

    The CW

    7. Izzy (Megan Stott) and Elena (Reese Witherspoon) from Little Fires Everywhere.

"My family just started the show and we were all genuinely confused after discovering the two aren’t real-life mother and daughter. I went through the entire first episode thinking about how interesting it must be for a daughter to act with her mum. Nope! I was very wrong and actually kind of sad."

    8. Archie (KJ Apa) and Fred (Luke Perry) from Riverdale.

    The CW

"KJ Apa looks so similar to Luke Perry at that age, and it shows in the flashback episode."

    9. The *entire* family from Kim's Convenience.

"I think Jung (Simu Liu) looks most like Umma (Jean Yoon), and Janet (Andrea Bang) looks most like Appa (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee), but it's just perfect casting all around."

    10. Jonny (Tom Rosenthal) and Jackie (Tamsin Greig) from Friday Night Dinner.

    Channel 4

"I was convinced they were blood related and even researched them up."

    11. Mia (Katherine McNamara) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) from Arrow.

    The CW

"They look so similar!!! William and Oliver look pretty similar too. The Arrowverse in general does a really good job with this."

    12. Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Hermione (Marisol Nichols) from Riverdale.

    The CW

"I think they look so alike and have great chemistry!"

    13. Theodora (Kate Siegel) and Olivia (Carla Gugino) from The Haunting of Hill House.

    14. Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and Nalini (Poorna Jagannathan) from Never Have I Ever.

    15. Sydney (Jennifer Garner) and Jack (Victor Garber) from Alias.

"They are (and always should be) the gold standard by which casting magic should be judged."

    16. Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham) from Gilmore Girls.

    The WB / The CW

"The casting director nailed it on that one. I was convinced they were actually related."

    17. Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Joyce (Kristine Sutherland) from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

    The WB / UPN

"They're so believable as mother and daughter!"

    18. Elisabeth (Carlotta von Falkenhayn) and Charlotte (Karoline Eichhorn) from Dark.

"If anyone’s watched Dark on Netflix, the casting is ridiculously good! Elizabeth and Charlotte especially. Without spoiling too much, it’s a show where it’s REALLY IMPORTANT that some kids and their parents look alike and they nailed it."

    19. J.D. (Zach Braff) and Sam (John Ritter) from Scrubs.

"He and Zach Braff really honestly do look like they could be related, and the episode that paid homage to Ritter's death by having J.D.'s dad die was so good."

    20. Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Pops (Laurence Fishburne) from Black-ish.

"You would swear they were actually related."

    21. Lena (Katie McGrath) and Lillian (Brenda Strong) from Supergirl.

    The CW

    22. Hannah (Katherine Langford) and Olivia (Kate Walsh) from 13 Reasons Why.

    23. Peyton (Hilarie Burton) and Ellie (Sheryl Lynn Lee) from One Tree Hill.

    The WB / The CW

"I always thought Lee was a really good casting choice, they totally look like mother and daughter."

    24. Susan (Teri Hatcher) and Sophie (Lesley Ann Warren) from Desperate Housewives.

"When I watched Lesley in the 1985 movie Clue she reminded me so much of Teri."

    25. Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Gavin (Peter Gallagher) from New Girl.

"Max Greenfield actually played a younger version of Peter Gallagher's character in The O.C. years before they played father and son in New Girl, which is pretty cool too."

    26. Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) and um, Phoebe (Teri Garr) from Friends.

    27. Marissa (Mischa Barton) and Julie (Melinda Clarke) from The O.C.

    28. Ilana (Ilana Glazer) and Bobbi (Susie Essman) from Broad City.

    Comedy Central

    29. Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Xiomara (Andrea Navedo) from Jane the Virgin.

    The CW
