7 Cool Gadgets We Can't Wait To Get Our Hands On

It’s been a little over a month since the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), and technology lovers are still reeling. To be shown a future that’s literally within your grasp and sitting right outside your door is thrilling. There’s nothing cooler than seeing your everyday life morph into something much more high tech. Whether it’s your dishwasher or your car stereo, almost everything we encounter tends to be getting smarter. Here are seven gadgets worth waiting for:

    1. Touchscreen Tablet in Your Car

In an effort to make your car even more comfortable and useful, beyond the whole getting you from Point A to Point B, touchscreens are becoming more accessible and a vital part to our daily lives. The same thing is happening with cars. They’re getting more complex and by next year, you’ll see cars with autopilot-like capabilities.

But this does ring up the possibilities of advertising reach. Will in-car tablets become a new promotion outlet for advertisers, much like a trade show booth - but in our cars? It's a likely outcome, but also presents the opportunity for starving industries like radio to adapt/evolve on a new medium.

    2. Oculus Rift

Nothing says the future quite like the word Oculus Rift. Now armed with the high caliber of John Carmack as CTO and the passionate Lucky Palmer, VR is soon to be public.

It sort of evokes the frontier side of science fiction. But the Oculus Rift has zero to do with outer space, and everything to do with the space we experience within Virtual Reality. This makes gaming truly immersive and gives a new meaning to the first-person games of the future.

    3. Vizio’s 4K TV

Gadgets are one thing, but TV still reigns supreme in some ways. Although we’ve grown comfortable watching content on smaller screens these days, nothing compares to watching big events on even larger screens. Its 120-inch picture will shatter any ideas you might have had about 1080P being just enough. This TV gives you four times the picture, while putting the cinematic back in cinema (from a home theater perspective).

    4. DoorBot

Here’s what we know: convenience is everything. Technology should in theory, make our lives better or at least more convenient. The DoorBot is a video doorbell that’s Wi-Fi capable and allows you to see anyone on your doorstep. Forget trying to crane your neck to get a better view through the peephole, you’ve got what you need right from your smartphone.

More than ever, it’s all about sound, right? The better we can hear the music, the more we can become immersed in the experience. The GoldenEar gives real 3D audio sound and will literally take you from the concert stage to the orchestra pit to the studio. Is it live? You’ll certainly think so.

    7. Curved Phones

Think of it this way. You might not think you need it now, but a curved smartphone is exactly what you’ll want to get your hands on. Think of all the trouble you go through trying not to drop your phone or that bulky casing you use to protect it.

Samsung has already rolled out a version of the curved phone; it’s bendable and quite cool. You’ll never have to worry about cracking your screen or having to replace it because you didn’t get the right protection. A curved phone promises to be the wave of the future. It’s one of the coolest gadgets you’ll probably own in the very near future.
