Recently, I published a post that was all about TV shows that started off great, but wound up being so bad that people struggled to finish.
But this time, I want to know the opposite — what's a TV show that you weren't really sold on at first, but then grew to become one of your favourite series?
The first example that comes to my mind is Schitt's Creek. I've rewatched it a couple of times and the first couple of episodes are good, but the show really starts to find its footing in the second season — especially with the characters and the storylines they explore. From then on, each season gets stronger, culminating in that bittersweet ending that had us all wishing for just one more episode.
Similarly, Avatar: The Last Airbender — which is one of my all-time favourites — got deeper and more complex with each season. While it may have started off with this goofy kid emerging from an iceberg, it ended with an incredible group of characters, some of the best character development (hello, Zuko here!) I've ever watched and a finale that still makes me weep each and every time.
Plus, Succession took me a hot minute to get into. I tried watching it once and got bored, but then on my second attempt, I made it through a couple more episodes and boom...I was hooked. From then on, the series has only gotten stronger and way juicier — and if I'm being completely honest, I'm not sure I'm ready to say goodbye to the chaos of the Roy Family.
