Last week, it was announced that Macca's was bringing the infamous Szechuan and Cajun sauces to Aussie shores. Now, we've received word (and official confirmation from Macca's themselves) that they're adding the much-talked about McPlant to the menu.
As the name suggests, the McPlant features a plant-based patty made from peas, rice, potatoes and beetroot that has been co-developed with Beyond Meat. Pretty cool, right?
The burg also comes with tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions, mayo-style sauce, tomato sauce, mustard and a slice of American cheese — all served on a sesame seed bun.
While Macca's trialled the McVeggie a couple years of ago, which featured a veggie patty made of potatoes, peas, corn, carrot and onion, it's the first time Aussies will get to taste the fabled McPlant — a menu item that's highly rated by our international friends.
The catch is that the McPlant will only be available in Victoria from Monday, July 4 – Tuesday, November 1. But hey, at least it gives you an excuse to have a little weekend away with your mates and take some well-deserved time off.
