10 Ways To Stay Awake In Class

Do you have a really hard time staying awake in class? Half-way through class do your eyes start to droop and your notes get small and illegible? Join the club. Here are a few (not entirely foolproof) ways to keep yourself awake in class.

Caffeinate. If you're someone who never gets enough sleep (aka all college students ever), caffeine can be your best friend. Drink coffee, black tea, soda, whatever gets you the fix you need to stay awake.

Drink water. I don't know the exact science behind it, but being hydrated makes you less tired and lethargic, which is super helpful in those long boring classes you have.

Chew gum. Chewing gum makes you move your mouth, which can sometimes wake you up.

Write snail mail to people in other places. Whether you have friends and family in other cities or other countries, take a minute to write them a letter – they'll love it and it'll keep you distracted enough to not fall asleep.

Participate in discussion. If your class allows for you to talk, speak up. It'll give you enough of an adrenaline rush (making coherent thoughts come out is hard) to get your blood pumping to your brain again.
